Should Liverpool ditch Darwin Nunez? He's loved by fans and can torment opponents on his day, but the struggling forward risks becoming a seismic flop like Paul Pogba

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 8, 2024
LEWIS STEELE AND PETE JENSON: Will Liverpool fans ever see the real Darwin Nunez on a consistent basis? On his day, he is an unstoppable force who can torment the best defenders in the world. But those days can be few and far between. Rival fans have poked fun at him ever since his arrival in England, while even his own so-called supporters have abused him in recent weeks after a sub-par run of form and several high-profile misses. His last goal came on April 4 and that was after Sheffield United goalkeeper Ivo Grbic went to clear the ball away but struck it straight at Nunez's back-side. It bounced in. His recent scoring rate stands at two in his last 13 games, with him often consigned to a seat on the bench now.

PLAYER RATINGS: Alexis Mac Allister continues remarkable run with stunning winner against Sheffield United… but one Liverpool star has an unusually quiet night

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 4, 2024
As Liverpool regained control of the Premier League, Alexis Mac Allister's late stunner before Cody Gakpo's clincher spared the Liverpool blushes. Jurgen Klopp's side took the lead after surviving an early scare when Ivo Grbic's clearance was blocked by Darwin Nunez and rolled into the Sheffield United net. When Gustavo Hamer's header sparked an own goal from Conor Bradley, the home team attempted in vain to gain a second and was eventually forced to pay.

The £11,500 sandwich! Following Sheffield United's 3-2 loss to Crystal Palace in January, Chris Wilder has been fined a hefty FA fine for his bizarre rant at a sandwich-eating linesman

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 20, 2024
The Football Association has disciplined Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder for his biting remarks regarding a sandwich-eating assistant referee. When the Blades boss went to see him after their 3-2 loss to Crystal Palace last month, Wilder was offended when he noticed one of referee Tony Harrington's assistants chowing down. In an interview with BBC Radio Sheffield after the game, Wilder, who has accepted the charge, described the sight as a "complete lack of respect" and also called Harrington's performance "ridiculous."
