Iván Eduardo Morovic Fernández, a Chilean chess player who was born on March 24, 1963, is the current Grandmaster of Chile. He was born in Via del Mar and started playing chess at age 9.
He won the Pan American Junior Chess Championship in 1979.
Morovic took third place in the World Junior Chess Championship in Dortmund in 1980, behind Garry Kasparov and Nigel Short respectively.
He was crowned Chess Championship in the following year.
