Isabela Onyshko Life

Isabela Maria Onyshko (born 23 June 1998 in Minnedosa) is a Canadian artistic gymnast who represented her country at the 2016 Summer Olympics, the 2014 Commonwealth Games, as well as the 2014, 2015, and 2017 World Championships.

She was the 2014 National Champion on beams.

She represented Elite Canada and the National Championships in the individual All Around in 2016 and the National Championships.

Isabela Onyshko Career

Senior career

Onyshko's team came in fourth place and seventh in the all-around at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, and seventh overall. She appeared in 2014 at the 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Nanning, China. Her team came in 12th in qualifying, but they did qualify a complete team for the 2015 World Championships.

Onyshko finished second overall in the Elite Canada series in January 2015, with third place finishes on the beam and the floor. Onyshko won three medals in the uneven bars and another in the balance beam while finishing second in the floor event at the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Ljubljana. Gymnastics Canada announced Onyshko to their World Championships team in September. She will represent Canada at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships with six of her teammates from October 23 to November 1, 2015.

Onyshko won the 2016 Elite Canada competition on February 5, 2016. She captured all-around silver at the Stuttgart World Cup later this month. She continued to participate in the Olympic Test Event in Rio de Janeiro, placing fourth on balance beam and floor exercises, and tenth in the all-around.

She represented Canada in June, defeating reigning champion Ellie Black to win the all-around. She also won gold on uneven bars and balance beam, bronze on floor exercise, and fourth on vault, finishing fourth. She then represented Canada at the 2016 Summer Olympics, where the team finished ninth overall. Onyshko finished 18th overall and eighth on beam, while Onyshko placed eighth overall and 8th on beam. She became the first Canadian gymnast to make a beam final at the Olympics.
