Ian Ross Career

Career

Ross, also known as "Roscoe," began his career at Sydney radio station 2GB in 1957. In 1965, he returned to Sydney as a National Nine News reporter. Ross served at Nine for 38 years, where he was most well-known as the Today news host. On several occasions, he also appeared on National Nine News, filling in for presenters who were either on leave or sick. Ross appeared in The Castle, Australia's most celebrated film, in 1997.

Ross came from retirement in Queensland and joined the Seven Network in 2003, "lured back by the challenge of being Sydney's No. 1 reader" to head the station's struggling flagship 6.00 p.m. bulletin. Despite making some steady progress in 2004, finishing third out of a possible 40, Seven News in Sydney ranked third in the year's rankings behind Nine News and Ten Eyewitness News, but by the following year, it had become Sydney's top news bulletin.

Ross was only hosting Seven News from Sunday to Wednesday before his final departure, with Chris Bath hosting the news on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Ross earlier reported the news on Monday to Thursday, before Chris Bath took over the show on Sunday Night.

Ian Ross, the former chief editor of Seven News in Sydney, delivered his final bulletin on Friday, and officially dropped from newsreading on November 27, 2009. As he said his final farewells to his viewers and colleagues, he was clearly moved.

He appeared on the first episode of Seven Network's The Daily Edition as a guest.

'It's the worst illness I've ever had': Hundreds are struck down with parasite as bosses warn customers not to drink, cook or clean teeth with unboiled tap water - after firm first insisted water was safe

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 15, 2024
South West Water (SWW) has urged people to boil their tap water after hundreds were struck down with diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach pains linked to cryptosporidium, a parasitic bug that causes severe stomach issues. Residents across Brixham, Boohay, Kingswear, Roseland and north-east Paignton in Devon are all being told to boil water as a precaution, including when drinking it or using it to cook with and brush teeth. The water board initially claimed that its treatment works were not to blame but has since backtracked - prompting fury from local Tory MP Anthony Mangnall, who said its initial failure to act had been 'enormously frustrating'.

80 businesses have been registered in the last four months in leafy Essex, with multi-million-pound organised crime groups reportedly to blame

Families in Henry Drive (pictured) in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, where houses worth up to £575,000 have been flooded with papers in relation to the bogus companies. Since May, 80 people have been licensed to houses on the street and have nothing to do with the people who live there. When letters land or their doormats from Companies House or HMRC, they are the first they hear about them. The bulk of bogus companies are of the wholesale fabric type and only have one officer working for them, most of which are located in France or Morocco. Residents Rosalind Miller and Kit Akister, respectively, are photographed left inset, and right inset is resident Kit Akister. Both companies have businesses that have been linked to their homes.

Reserve Bank of Australia review reveals how it failed borrowers

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 20, 2023
Following a review into interest rate decisions, millions of Australians with a home loan will have less to worry about as the Reserve Bank meets eight times a year rather than 11. The federal government will also lose the power to veto Reserve Bank of Australia decisions under far-reaching changes flagged by Treasurer Jim Chalmers (pictured, centre),
