Ian Zachary Broudie (born 4 August 1958) is an English singer-songwriter, singer, and record producer from Liverpool, England.
Broudie started producing albums (sometimes under the name Kingbird) for musicians like Echo & the Bunnymen, The Coral, The Zutons, and many others as a result of his emerging from the post-punk scene in Liverpool in the late 1970s as a member of Big in Japan. Around 1989, he began writing and recording under the name Lightning Seeds, debuting the album Cloudcuckooland on Rough Trade and independent label Ghetto Records, and later forming a live touring band in 1994.
Lightning Seeds enjoyed a lot of success in the 1990s.
Broudie released Tales Told under his own name in 2004.

Early career
In the 1970s, Ian Broudie appeared in Liverpool's fledgling punk scene. He was a member of the band Big in Japan, with Holly Johnson and Bill Drummond. On their lone album from 1981, he was also a founder member of John Peel's Original Mirrors and was credited as a member of Bette Bright and the Illuminations. He produced and wrote tracks under the name Care with vocalist Paul Simpson in 1983; the pair then released three singles, including the minor UK chart hit "Flaming Sword."
Solo career
Despite the fact that Tales Told saw Broudie step into folk rock territory and away from the Lightning Seeds' slick pop sounds, Broudie's debut solo effort, Tales Told, was welcomed by critics and fans alike on October 11th. In the first episode of the 3rd season of the US television series The O.C., the first song on the album, "Song for No One," appeared in the first episode.
