Hossam Hassan Hussein (born 10 August 1966) is an Egyptian retired footballer and the current head of Smouha SC in the Egyptian Premier League. He is Egypt's all-time top scorer with 69 goals in 169 appearances.

Personal life
Hassan has publicly endorsed long-serving Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak during the 2011 Egyptian revolution, which resulted in the politician's resignation.

Club career
Despite more than two stints in Switzerland and Greece, Cairo-born Hassan played mainly for Al Ahly, for whom he made his first-team debuts aged 18, playing his final match for the club sixteen years ago. He ranked first in several categories and won a total of 25 titles with it, including 11 leagues; he was one of only two players to find the net in derbies for each team.
He is best known for scoring four goals in a single game against Celtic in the 1991-92 UEFA Cup during his time in Neuchâtel Xamax, Switzerland.
Hassan left Al-Ahly in 2000, heading to Al Ain SCC, Zamalek SC, winning three more leagues and the 2002 CAF Champions League, while playing at length. He retired at the age of 42 after spending the majority of his time with his sibling Ibrahim, including abroad.
International career
He appeared for the country at the 1990 FIFA World Cup, helping the Pharaohs win two draws and then lose 0-1 to England. Ibrahim was also an undisputed starter.
Hassan, 40, was captain of the national team at the 2006 African Cup of Nations, played three times and netted once for the hosts, winning the last of his three continental titles.
Coaching career
Hassan was both general manager and coach of Al-Masry's former team before joining at humble Itesalat on February 29, 2008.
After the dismissal of French coach Henri Michel, he was named in charge of former Zamalek's first match in charge, against Haras El Hood, Ahmed Eid Abdel Malek was not allowed to participate in the match, and he scored Hodood's first goal.
Hassan's first victory at Zamalek came on the 12th against Al-Masry (3–0). He went from 14th place to second in twelve matches, with just losing one game and drawing another before being suspended.
He had brief stints with Ismaily, Al Masry, and Misr Lel Makkasa later. He then became the head coach of Jordan, where he led the team during the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Uzbekistan and then the AFC-CONMEBOL play-off against Uruguay.
Later on, he returned to Egypt, Al Ittihad Alexandria, then Al Masry, where he went from 2015 to 2018, where he reached the 2017 Egypt Cup Final and semi-finals. He later worked with Pyramids and Smouha before returning to coach Al Ittihad Alexandria in October 2020.
