Hilary Hollis Rhoda (born April 6, 1987) is an American model.
She is perhaps best known for her appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, particularly for her work with Estée Lauder in 2009, 2010, and 2011 appearances.
Early life
Rhoda was born in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and grew up and in Rye, New York. She has an Irish ancestor. She was a three-year student at the Academy of the Holy Cross in Maryland, and as a member of the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship team, she received accolades and was named best offensive player. Rhoda deferred her college acceptances after she began a career in modeling during her sophomore year, and was accepted by several colleges to play field hockey.
Personal life
Rhoda dated former New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez for many years, including his appearance alongside him in a GQ photo shoot photographing the two characters in several intimate poses.
Rhoda revealed on November 13, 2013 that she was engaged to former National Hockey League player Sean Avery. They were married at the Parrish Art Museum in New York on October 10, 2015. In 2020, she revealed she was expecting their first child. Nash Hollis Avery's son was born on July 28, 2020.
Career
Rhoda was first discovered at a ProScout gathering in Washington, D.C., before relocating to Click Model Management and then IMG Models, globally. She is now represented by IMG Models in New York.
She was included in the 2011 Max Mara AW campaign. She appeared in advertisements for Balenciaga, Valentino, Belstaff, Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, Donna Karan, Gucci, Gap, DSquared2, Shiatzy Chen, Blumarine, and Ralph Lauren's Secret catalogs. In addition, she has appeared on the pages of American Vogue, Vogue Italia, Vogue Paris, British Harper's Bazaar, Time, Numéro, and W, alongside fellow models Doutzen Kroes, Caroline Trentini, Raquel Zimmermann, Sasha Pivovarova, Agyn, Coco Rocha, Jessica Stam, Chanel Iman, and Lily Donaldson as the "World's Top Models" in May 2007.
Rhoda's new star, Estée Lauder, agreed to a long-term deal in January 2007.
