Harry Segall Life

Harry Segall (born 1892 – 1975) was an American playwright, screenwriter, and television producer. Segall was born in Chicago. Harry Segall's writing career spanned 1933 to 1959.

In the 1930s, Segall's plays, including Lost Horizons, appeared on Broadway.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer brought Segall to Hollywood as a staff writer in 1933.

In 1936, he went to RKO Pictures, where he wrote and co-wrote screenplays for films including The Outcasts of Poker Flat, based on a tale told by Bret Harte and Blind Alibi, starring Richard Dix.

Paramount Pictures and Universal Studios also produced his screenplays during this period.

Segall received an Academy Award for best original story for the film Here Comes Mr. Jordan, starring Robert Montgomery, based on Segall's Heaven Can Wait.

The play was revived under the name Wonderful Journey later in life, but it took only nine performances.

Warren Beatty, Julie Christie, and James Mason appeared in a 1978 film adaptation of Heaven Can Wait.

As Down to Earth, Chris Rock's rider, the performance was then shot. In 1947, a technicolor sequel to Here Comes Mr. Jordan, Down to Earth (no relation to the Chris Rock film) was released.

Rita Hayworth and Larry Parks appeared in the film. Segall's writing skills were expanded to this medium, writing scripts for television series and Playhouse 90, with the introduction of television.

He started writing in 1959 and died in Woodland Hills, California, on November 25, 1975.

In Gardena, California, Segall was interred in Roosevelt Cemetery.
