Since the EFL lowered the eligibility from a minimum of 14 appearances to five, Gaskell is one of up to 18 former United States players who may be eligible for missing medals. When Gaskell made his debut against Manchester City in 1956, he was the club's youngest goalkeeper. During 13 years at Old Trafford, he appeared in the 1963 FA Cup final win over Leicester City and had a total of 119 first team appearances.
