Hannah Mills will lead an all-star crew boasting six Olympic and 22 World Championship medals in the inaugural Puig Women's Cup. For the 37th America's Cup, the Emirates Team New Zealand team will defend their title, but the Youth America's Cup will be held in Barcelona in October, for the first time, as well as a male competition. Mills, a double Olympic gold medalist, announced the make-up of the 12-strong British team at an event in London on Monday.

Her job as the team's strategist is to monitor what all the other boats are doing to prevent accidents from happening while planning the manoeuvres and tactics that will win. Mills, the most decorated female sailor in Olympic history, is an excellent at what she does. Sir Ben Ainslie, the British skipper, describes her as a "once in a lifetime talent." However, Mills, 35, has seen life change drastically since the arrival of baby girl Sienna into the world five months ago. Mills recovered to the British boat just three months after giving birth to the first child, not one for taking too much maternity leave.

Among the high-profile names given accolades at an investiture function at Buckingham Palace on Thursday was Thandiwe Newton [pictured left and right with Princess Anne]. After a career that saw her win a Primetime Emmy Award and a British Academy Film Award, the actress, 50, was given an OBE for services to film and charity.
