Guinevere Jane Turner (born May 23, 1968) is an American actress, screenwriter, and film producer.
She has written books such as American Psycho and The Notorious Bettye Page, as well as appearing in Preaching to the Perverted as Tanya Cheex.
Early life
Turner was born in Boston and is the oldest of six children. Elizabeth Hobbs Turner, her paternal grandmother, served with the United States Marine Corps in 1944 during World War II.
Turner lived in several communes around the United States during the first 11 years of her life as part of Mel Lyman's family, with over 100 members who wished to live on Venus. Though Turner admitted that the Lyman Family was depicted as a cult, she protested against using the word to describe them. Turner was not raised by her mother, but she and her younger sister were eventually ejected from the family after their mother's decision to leave. Turner considered returning to the service when she was 18, but ultimately decided to enroll in college.

Career
Turner co-wrote and co-produced with her then-girlfriend, Rose Troche, on the scene with Go Fish, which she co-wrote and co-produced with her then-girlfriend, Walter Troche. Ely Brodie played a young woman named Max whose friends help her find a new girlfriend. Director Kevin Smith was a fan of the film, particularly a scene wherein some of a character's companions chastised her for "selling out" and sleeping with a man and a woman, and she used it as an example for his own film Chasing Amy. In both Chasing Amy and Smith's later film Dogma, Turner has cameos. After Turner, Smith's Mallrats also named Joey Lauren Adams' character. In Cheryl Dunye's 1996 independent film The Watermelon Woman, another early film appearance was made.
The screenplay for Bret Easton Ellis' American Psycho, directed by Harron, was written by Turner and I Shot Andy Warhol. In the film's brief cameo, Turner has a line "I'm not a lesbian." Turner's real-life alma mater, Sarah Lawrence College, is also included in a list.
Turner, a writer and story editor for the first two seasons of The L Word, appeared on the show for several times as Alice Pieszecki's screenwriter ex-girlfriend Gabby.
Turner wrote the script for BloodRayne in 2005. In 2006, it was nominated for a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Screenplay. She said in a phone interview that director Uwe Boll only used about 25% of her screenplay in the documentary Tales From the Script. She co-wrote the script for The Notorious Bettie Page, a film directed by Mary Harron in 2005. On the 2018 film Charlie Says, Turner and Harron co-produced as screenwriter and director.
