Doug Ellin Career

Life and career

Ellin was born in Brooklyn, New York, and the son of June and Marvin Ellin. He grew up in Merrick, New York, and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School (Bellmore, New York).

Ellin is of Jewish descent.

Ellin served as a staff writer for Life with Bonnie, which starred Bonnie Hunt, before composing and writing for Entourage. From 2003 to 2004, the series ran. Ellin has also written screenplays for two films, Kissing a Fool and Phat Beach. He began to be a stand-up comedian in Los Angeles in the early 1990s and then took up a New Line Cinema job. It was there where he met film director Mike DeLuca, who funded Ellin's first short film The Pitch, starring then unknown actor David Schwimmer. Ellin was accepted to the American Film Institute, where he graduated from in 1994. Phat Beach, his father's first film in 1996, was directed by him. Ellin has described the film as "probably the worst movie ever made." Ellin created another independent comedy film, Kissing a Fool starring David Schwimmer, who was then known for his appearance on Friends in its fourth season two years ago.

Kissing a Fool was originally intended for distribution, and Ellin later sold a few screenplays to Miramax. One, The Pledge never existed, although Ellin was paid seven figures for the script and was expected to direct. He also sold another unproduced screenplay for mid-six figures.

Ellin's best results came with Entourage in 2004. The HBO show lasted eight seasons, and Ellin made an eight-figure deal with HBO to continue producing television.

In addition, Ellin is a member of the Greenwich International Film Festival.

Entourage's 2015 film version was written and directed by Ellin.

Ellin is currently one of the co-hosts of the "Victory!" podcast, which was created and produced by Action Park media.
