Girsh Blumberg Life

Girsh Blumberg, an Estonian-American experimental physicist, works in the field of experimental condensed matter physics, spectroscopy, nanooptics, and plasmonics.

Blumberg is also a fellow at the American Physical Society and Professor of Physics at Rutgers University. Girsh Blumberg is best known for his contribution to electronic Raman scattering studies in highly correlated electron devices, superconductor, and quantum spin systems. He has coauthored over 100 papers and is an inventor on over 30 patents in the fields of electronic and optical assembly, spectroscopy, and nanoplasmonics.

To name a few, he and his colleagues made the first observations of the Legible in multiband superconductors, and have observed Wigner crystallization in tightly interconnected quantum spin ladder frameworks. "For his seminal contributions to clarifying spin, charge, and superconducting relationships in 1D and 2D complex oxide compounds using Raman scattering methods," Blumberg was named Fellow of the American Physical Society in 2006. In 1992, Blumberg was a recipient of the Golda Meir fellowship at Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
