Gijsbrecht "Gijs" Blom (born January 2, 1997) is a Dutch actor.
He is best known for his role in Jongens' 2014 drama film Sieger.
Early life and education
Blom is from Amsterdam. He is the uncle of stage actor Marloes van den Heuvel. In 2021, he graduated with a degree in theatre from Amsterdam University of the Arts' Academy of Theatre and Dance.
Career
Blom appeared in the musical Ciske de Rat from 2007 to 2009. Gijs Blom made his first film appearance in Maria Peeters' Sonny Boy in 2011. Urfeld and Eine Frau verschwindet were then small roles in the 2012 films, the former being a German production.
In 2014 coming-of-age romance film Jongens, Blom appeared as Sieger, receiving critical acclaim and a Golden Calf award for Best Actor at the Netherlands Film Festival. He produced and starred as Thijmen in the short film Escapade and appeared in the films Analgesics, Nena, and Pijnstillers in the same year.
In the multilingual World War II film The Forgotten Battle, Blom played disillusioned Axis soldier Marinus van Staveren, alongside Jamie Flatters and Susan Radder. It's the second most expensive Dutch film production of all time, and it was released on Netflix in 2021. He has appeared in the films Dead & Beautiful and The Dutch Boys. Blom has a new role in the Globoplay series Fallen.
