Faye White, born 2 February 1978), is a retired English footballer who captained Arsenal Ladies in the FA Women's Super League and was the longest-serving captain of England to date, defeating Carol Thomas' record of 26 years old.
Faye, one of the most well-known and respected players in the women's game, remained a steadfast presence at the Arsenal and England teams from the late 1990s to her retirement in 2013.

White was born and grew up in Horley, Surrey, and attended Horley Infants School, Yattendon Middle School, Horley, and Oakwood School, Horley.

Club career
When she joined her brother's team, Horley Town, in the training sessions, White began playing football at the age of ten. She wanted to go to an all-girls coaching session after three years of playing with her brother and colleagues, which she met Jim Muir, the head coach of a local girls' team, "Horsham Ladies." She began playing for the reserves before turning into a first-team player at the age of 14. When still at Horsham, aged 16, Ted Copeland called up for the national team.
Vic Akers and Arsenal Ladies tapped up White in the 1996-1997 season, winning her first international cap against Scotland. White was drafted into the first team, solidifying a central role in Arsenal's central defense. The FA Women's Premier League was her first trophy of the year.
She was named Premier League Player of the Year in 1997–98, owing to White's appearances in north London. Arsenal also received the FA Women's Cup and Premier League Cup.
Despite suffering multiple injuries, including two cruciate ligament injuries, which kept her out of football for nine months at a time, White was able to have a big success. White made her England debut against Scotland in 1997, age 19, followed by her full debut against France in 1998, when she was named player of the match. In her first major tournament at UEFA Euro 2001 in Germany, White went on to represent her country.
During the qualification campaign for the FIFA World Cup in the United States in 2002, Hope Powell selected her as England captain against Nigeria. White was not supposed to wear the armband until her international retirement in 2012.

With the injury, White continued to play for the remainder of the game, making many vital head clearances, but was unable to prevent a World Cup exit from the top-ranked national team in the world.
In 2009, White led England to the final of Euro 2009 in Helsinki, Finland, where the team lost out to reigning World and European Champions, Germany. In the quarter-final win over Finland in Turku, only six days after having surgery, she wore a protective face mask in the final.
