Fátima Ptacek (born August 20, 2000) is an American film and television actress, as well as a human rights campaign for gender equality, which is supported by the UN Women's #HeForShe campaign for gender equality.

She is best known as the lead actress in the Academy Award-winning film Curfew and its 2014 full-length sequel Before I Disappear.

Dora and Friends: Into the City She has lend her voice as the lead role of "Dora" in Nickelodeon's animated television series Dora the Explorer since 2010. Since 2014, this website has existed.

Personal life

Ptacek was born and raised with her parents in New York City. Her mother is Ecuadorian. Her father has roots in Colombia, Czech, Irish, and Norwegian.

She is a gymnast, competes at United States Gymnastics Level 7, and participates in English equestrian riding; in 2010, she said she hoped to qualify for the Olympic Games. She stated in 2010 that she was aiming for a Harvard or Yale scholarship and that she was enrolled in a school for intellectually gifted children; in 2013, she was accepted into the National Junior Honor Society. She has expressed curiosity in moving from acting to a career in law someday. Her childhood aspiration was to be elected president of the United States, but her words led to her being invited to attend the New York State Assembly and the New York State Senate debate in person. On the floor of the Assembly, Assemblywoman Francisco Moya acknowledged her contributions to the arts and was lauded for her contributions to the arts. Ptacek has been studying Mandarin Chinese since childhood, in addition to being fluent in English and Spanish. She first attended Stanford University in 2018.

Ptacek, a child actor, appeared in more than 70 television commercials and on the front pages of numerous national newspapers. She was also one of the few female models to walk the runway at Bryant Park during the annual Fall Fashion Week in New York City. Wilhelmina Models, later represented by Abrams Artists Agency in New York during her child acting and modeling career, led to calls from the "Big Four" talent agencies, Creative Artist Agency (CAA), William Morris Endeavor (WME), and International Creative Management (ICM) to recruit her, and she eventually joined ICM. Ptacek was one of the highest-paid child models in the country, earning approximately $250,000 annually as of 2010, when she first appeared as the "face" of Ralph Lauren and worked in major campaigns for top-end designers such as Bonnie Young, Miss Sixty, Monna Lisa, and Siviglia, as well as fashion companies like Guess, The Gap, H&M, and Benetton. In 2009, Ptacek's most notable campaign was for Macy's Yes, Virginia, where she revived Natalie Wood's childhood role as "Virginia" in Macy's Yes, Virginia. It's been a Santa Claus-themed campaign, which culminated in Ptacek's appearance in a series of full page advertisements in each of New York's top newspapers, TV commercials starring celebrities, such as Queen Latifah, Donald Trump, She appeared on Newsweek's front page.

Ptacek appeared in the Shawn Christensen short film Curfew (2012) as well as its sequel Before I Disappear (2014) about a homeless man who was asked to look after his niece. Christensen had auditioned a handful of actors for the role, but Ptacek was on a morning television performance. He admits that he wished she would nail the audition and describes her as "phenomenal." Ptacek's performance was described as "a breakthrough," "memorable," "charming," an "eerie, mature presence for someone so young" and "delightfully annoying." At the 85th Academy Awards, the film was nominated for "Best Live Action Short Film," the first time the category was open to all members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The film was a success, with Ptacek in attendance. With Christensen, she attended the Vanity Fair Oscar party. Ptacek has received Best Young Actress at the 2012 Sapporo Short Festival (the year after with Ptacek's appearance), and Ptacek's debut has been announced. In an interview with Joey Dedio, screenwriter and lead actor of Tio Papi, in which Ptacek stars, Ptacek says, "we hit the jackpot with that one." She's a class act, as are her parents. Ptacek was nominated for a "Best Actress/Support Actress" Imagen Award, alongside Elizabeth Rodriguez from the same film; Mriam Colón (Bless Me, Ultima) received the award.

Dora and Friends: Moving into the City (2014–2017), which also has Ptacek as the voice of Dora. Although Ptacek's pitch for Dora the Explorer is higher, the current series gives her a more natural voice as the woman is 10 to Ptacek's actual life age at the start of production, 12. On the original story, production continues. Ptacek has been able to change lines when she feels she will have a more accurate representation of how youth speak. At the 2015 NAACP Image Awards, Ptacek received the "Outstanding Achievement in a Youth/Children's TV Series."
