Fabrice Olinga Essono (born 12 May 1996) is a Cameroonian footballer who plays for Belgian club Royal Excel Mouscron as a forward. At the age of 16, he became the youngest player to play in La Liga at the service of Málaga.
He appeared in Cyprus, Romania, and Belgium shortly after, and he was also active in sports. At the 2014 World Cup, Olinga represented Cameroon.
Early years
Olinga, a born in Douala, started learning football in Cameroon's "Samuel Eto'o Foundation." He arrived in Spain in 2009 and joined the RCD Mallorca youth team.
Olinga was discovered by Málaga CF's academy director, Manuel Casanova, who invited him to join the team two years ago. He was instrumental in the Andalusians' winning of Copa del Rey Juvenil de Ftbol in 2012; however, he skipped the crucial game against RCD Espanyol (0–1 loss) due to suspension.
Club career
Olinga was called up by first-team manager Manuel Pellegrini for the 2012–13 opener against Sebastián Fernández, who went on to score the game's first goal and defeating the previous record holder, Iker Muniain, by 191 days.
Olinga returned to action four days later, defeating Panathinaikos FC 2–0 in the season's UEFA Champions League and playing 70 minutes. He ended his relations with Málaga on January 20th, 2014, after rejecting the bid for a rewritten and improved deal advised by his agent Pini Zahavi – and joining Apollon Limassol from the Cypriot First Division, being loaned to S.V. Zulte Waregem has been fighting for five months with the possibility of moving permanently afterwards.
Apollon loaned Olinga to Romania's FC Viitorul Constanța in February 2015, with the transfer being superseded by U.C. Sampdoria had a too many non-European Union players in its ranks. Compatriot Eto'o called a press conference on April 11th of the following year in which he said he was taking the Italian club to court for what he felt was unfair treatment of Olinga, going as far as claiming that both signings were related.
Sampdoria renounced his rights on Olinga and signed a two-year contract with Royal Mouscron-Péruwelz in the summer of 2015. During his time in the Belgian First Division A, he barely played, his second goal as a professional was only achieved in a 2–2 home draw against KV Mechelen on September 30, 2017.
International career
Olinga was called by the Cameroon national team for a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualification match against Cape Verde on October 2nd (2–1) victory). He was selected by coach Volker Finke for his 2014 FIFA World Cup team, the youngest player in the tournament, but the tournament remained an unoccupied participant as a result of group stage elimination.
