Eyong Enoh Career

Club career

Enoh's football career began in the youth ranks of local club Little Foot FC in Tiko, where he played for five seasons. Enoh was spotted by Mount Cameroon while playing for Little Foot in the 2001 Mini-Interpools and was recruited to the Buea squad the same year, making him the top flight of football in his homeland. When he was at Little Foot, he was named Verón after the Argentinean midfielder Juan Sebastián Verón because of his similar playing style. He kept the name in his new club and University of Buea, where he had been enrolled in the Faculty. He began playing for the Cameroon national football team's Cadet Lions in Buéa, earning his first caps for Cameroon's national youth teams.

Enoh made his debut in Cameroon and moved to Maşa Türk Gücü S.K., a club from Turkey's Occupied Zone. He played in 36 games and scored one goal for his new club, Kuzey Kbrs Süper Ligi, in the Kuzey Kbr team. After just one season with the club, he moved to Türk Ocad Limasol, another player remains in Northern Cyprus. The transfer did not go well with Enoh because he did not get any playing time, and after six months of his new club's agreement, he did not do well.

Enoh was signed to South African Ajax Cape Town in 2006, playing in the South African Premier Soccer League for the Cape club, having returned to Cameroon after a less fruitful stint in Northern Cyprus. Enoh made just nine appearances in his first season in Cape Town. He would also assist Ajax Cape Town in winning the ABSA Cup this year. Enoh made a good name for himself after his first season as a team captain and was named the Ajax Cape Town Player of the Year award at the end of the 2007-2008 season, leaving a lasting impression.

Enoh completed many trials in France, Denmark, Sweden, and England, but was not offered a job. He was on the verge of joining Maccabi Haifa from Israel, but the two sides were unable to agree on a decision. Harry Redknapp attempted to recruit the young midfielder to Portsmouth, but Enoh was unable to obtain a work license in time to play in the United Kingdom.

He signed a two-year contract with AFC Ajax Amsterdam in August 2008. Enoh was the first Cameroonian to play for Ajax. After making his Ethical debut against Feyenoord on September 21, 2008, he quickly became a regular starter in Marco van Basten's team. He scored his first UEFA Cup goal against Olympique Marseille in the Amsterdam ArenA on March 18, 2009, and has become a popular figure in the fans for his workman-like appearances. He was a regular starter under new manager Martin Jol. Enoh and several other Ajax regulars were hospitalized during a large portion of the 2011–12 season. In an important 2–0 win over PSV Eindhoven in which he scored, he returned to the Ajax first team. Enoh had fewer starting chances when Frank de Boer was named boss and was more reliant on a backup plan.

On January 31, 2013, Enoh signed for Fulham on loan until the end of the season, with Fulham having the option to keep the player on a permanent basis. Enoh's former Ajax boss Martin Jol was reinstated at Fulham. He made his Fulham debut in their 1–0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on March 17th.

Enoh returned to Ajax on July 11, 2013 where he was wearing the number 26 shirt during his loan stint at Fulham, where he played nine regular season appearances for the Cottagers. Enoh was given permission by Ajax to negotiate with other clubs and weigh out alternative options after his deal runs until mid-2015. He had lost his starting position at Ajax, and Fulham chose not to buy the defensive midfielder at the end of the season. As clubs were interested in signing the midfielder, Kasmpaşa and Olympiacos had been rumored. Enoh did not manage to obtain a transfer, but Enoh stayed in Amsterdam. The first team's playing time was bleak due to emerging talent from Sportpark De Toekomst, such as Thulani Serero and Lucas Andersen, and Lerin Duarte, who had just arrived. Enoh was given minutes in the Dutch Eerste Divisie for the reserves team Jong Ajax, where he made his debut against Willem II on September 15th, despite being registered by boss Frank de Boer to play in the clubs 2013-14 UEFA Champions League campaign if necessary.

Enoh left Ajax after coming to terms with Antalyaspor from Turkey, scoring three goals in 98 league matches. He appeared in 13 matches for the KNVB Cup and made 36 appearances on Ajax's continental stage, scoring one goal. He also competed in the Johan Cruijf Shield once.

Enoh had signed with the Turkish club from Antalya on January 11, 2014, according to the Turkish club. Ajax received a €600,000 transfer fee, while Enoh will spend the remainder of the 2013–14 season on a 6-month loan spell with the Dutch club before moving to Antalyaspor for a year. He made his debut in the Turkish Cup match against Galatasaray, which resulted in a 1–1 draw at home. In the 3–1 victory over Kayseri Erciyesspor, he made his regular season debut.

Enoh would join Belgian Pro League side Standard Liège on August 30, 2014, just months after completing his transfer to Antalyaspor. The transfer fee paid out to the Turkish club is unknown. Enoh made his debut for his new club in a match against Club Brugge on October 5, 2014. Following a hard tackle on Ruud Vormer only 10 minutes into the match, he was dismissed, with a red card. Enoh's deal with Standard ended in 2017 in order to sign for a club in England. Despite receiving offers from Belgium and Russia, he was unable to find an English club before the transfer window closed and he was a free agent for half a year.

Willem II had signed Enoh on a 6-month deal as a free transfer, according to the company. On the last day of the Winter transfer window, he was given the number 32 shirt, marking his return to Ajax.

Following the summer Enoh, he returned to Cyprus, this time relocating to the Greek side of the island, signing with Enosis Neon Paralimni FC, Cyprus' top flight football.

He joined Olympiakos Nicosia in the Cypriot First Division for six months on June 13, 2019.

He spent one season with the Ajax Amateurs team in the Dutch Derde Divisie, the fourth tier of football in the Netherlands, following his professional career.

International career

Enoh made his Cameroon debut against Morocco on June 7, 2009, during the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying tournament against Morocco. The match in Yaoundé came to a 0–0 draw, with Enoh playing the full 90' minutes. He appeared in many more World Cup qualifiers and was rewarded for the 2010 African Cup of Nations in Angola as well. Cameroon defeated Gabon in their first match of the tournament, being drawn into Group D of the tournament. In the 0–1 loss at the Esto alto da Chela in Lubango, Enoh was replaced by Enoh in the 76' minute for Henri Bedimo. Enoh stayed on the bench for the remainder of the team's next match, a 3–4 victory over Zambia, and played the full 90' minutes against Tunisia on January 21, bringing the tournament's first appearance and placing in the quarter-finals. On the 25th of January 2010, Cameroon defeated Egypt in the Complexo da Graça in Benguela. Cameroon went on to lose this match against the eventual champions Egypt in a 3–1 loss after extra time, with Enoh playing the entire match, effectively ending Cameroon's 2010 African Cup of Nations campaign.

Cameroon was drawn into Group E of the tournament, alongside Denmark, Japan, and the Netherlands, having secured a place in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa in a 0–2 victory over Morocco on November 14, 2009. Enoh played the complete 90' minutes in the team's first match against Japan, a match that resulted in a 0–1 loss at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein. He jumped into the next match against Denmark but was forced to leave in the 46th minute for Jean Makoun in Pretoria's 1–2 loss. The team's last game in the group stage will be against the Netherlands' eventual group champions on June 24th, 2010. Enoh stayed on the bench for the duration of their final game, after Cameroon lost 1–2 against the tournament's eventual runners-up, leaving Cameroon at the bottom of their group table.

Enoh was named vice captain of the Cameroon national team on August 26th, alongside his colleague Nicolas N'Koulou, who played for AS Monaco at the time. Both vice captains deputise Samuel Eto'o, who is still regarded as the skipper for the Indomitable Lions. Enoh led the Cameroon national team to their seventh appearance in the FIFA World Cup finals of all time, defeating Tunisia 4–1 at home, ensuring placement for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Enoh played the full 90' minutes of the game at home in Yaoundé, having played a vital part in the national teams qualifying campaign in the central defensive midfield.
