Evan Davis Career

Davis began work as an economist at the Institute for Fiscal Studies, and while there he was briefly seconded to help officials work on early development of the Community Charge system of local government taxation (better known as the Poll Tax). In 1988 he moved to the London Business School, writing articles for their publication Business Strategy Review. He returned to the Institute for Fiscal Studies in 1992, writing a paper on "Britain, Europe and the Square Mile" for the European Policy Forum which argued that British financial prosperity depended on being seen as a bridgehead to the European Union.

In 1993, Davis joined the BBC as an economics correspondent. He worked as economics editor on BBC Two's Newsnight programme from 1997 to 2001. In the mid-1990s he was a member of the Social Market Foundation's Advisory Council; he is a member of the British-American Project for a Successor Generation.

Inna Gudavadze is the widow of Badri Patarkatsishvili, a one-time collaborator of the Russian tyrant who became one of his fiercest critics and whose many suspects were assassinated. 67-year-old Gudavadze had hoped to emerge into the stunning country pile shortly, but a big fire ripped through it two weeks ago. All that remains of the supermansion have been charred walls and foundations have been shattered after the fire that sparked one of the UK's richest areas.

While MOTD is on air under new BBC rules, Gary Lineker will not be allowed to broadcast his political views on social media, but actors will be allowed to voice their opinions on topics that concern to them.'

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 28, 2023
After the Match of the Day host compared Suella Braverman's crackdown and Rwanda's anti-migrant boats to Nazi Germany's policies, Gary Lineker was urged to speak on Twitter and Instagram in a new report released today. As part of its social media study, the corporation has issued specific recommendations for high-profile presenters hosting flagship shows, which they must adhere to while the program is on air and for a two-week window before and after the series. It says, 'You are free to express your views on the topics that concern to you in a section named 'Flagship Programme Presenters,' a nod to Lineker and others.' This includes topics that may be both political and political debate.' Evan Davis of The Dragons, The One Show's Alex Jones, MasterChef hosts John Torode and Gregg Wallace, and Match Of The Day's Mark Chapman and Lineker were among those who breach the rules. Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, and Lord Alan Sugar of Strictly Come Dancing have all been warned by the BBC that they may face discipline for using social media platforms. Mr Lineker, who has consistently slammed Tory ministers and policies in recent years as well as praise Just Stop Oil, has tweeted: 'All very sensible.'

Evan Davis of BBC talks about how his father died by himself, with his brother breaking the shocking news just moments after Dragon's Den star Michael Jackson married his wife

www.dailymail.co.uk, July 22, 2023
In an interview with the Times, Dragon's Den actor (pictured left) said he received a call from his brother Roland a few days after the service in Lambeth town hall last July, asking him to 'Call ASAP'. During the reception, he managed to ring his brother back, and then tell him that Quintin's father had taken their own life. On the day that 17 conservative MPs resigned, Evan married Guillaume Baltz, a French landscape architect, who compelled Boris Johnson himself to stand down as Prime Minister the day after.
