Erick Avari (born 13 April 1952) is an Indian-American actor best known for his appearances in science-fiction serials, including Stargate (1994), Independence Day (1996), and The Mummy (1999).
Early life
Erick Avari was born in Darjeeling, West Bengal, India, on April 13th, 1952, to a Parsi Zoroastrian family. Eruch Avari, his father, owned two movie theaters, the Capital and the Rink. His early education began at North Point School, which he attended as a day-scholar. He later attended the College of Charleston.
Avari is a member of the Avari-Madan family of Darjeeling and Calcutta. Jamshedji Madan, one of India's pioneers of cinema, was his great-grandfather.
Career
Avari has appeared in the films The Beast (1988), Encino Man (1992), Stargate (1994), The Mummy (1999), Mr.'s Home Alone 4 (2002), Mr.. Deeds (2002), Daredevil (2003), and Flight of the Living Dead (2005): Deeds (Plane). He is one of only two actors to appear in both the original Stargate film and the spin-off series Stargate SG-1 (three episodes). His extensive onstage work earned him acclaim from theater critics across America, most notably as Vasquez in 'Tis Pity She's a Whore with Val Kilmer at the Joseph Papp Public Theater, and Sir Richard at The Guthrie Theater's memorable production of The Screens, who appeared in Los Angeles in 1991.

In the role of Chandra Suresh in Heroes, a photograph of Avari and a recording of his voice were used beginning in the fall of 2006. He didn't appear on screen until "Seven Minutes to Midnight" as his character was embedded in the backstory and had died before the pilot's adventures. When his character appears, it is only in flashbacks until the episode "Six Months Ago," where the story takes place six months before the pilot episode's events. Suresh travels to New York to find people on "the list" that he created of those with particular genetic abnormalities.
