Eric Tsang Life

Eric Tsang Chi-wai MH (Chinese: born 14 April 1953) is a Hong Kong actor, film director, and television presenter best known for hosting the variety show Super Trio on the Hong Kong television network TVB, which has been on television for over 18 years.

Early life

Tsang is a descendant of Wuhua's Tsang. Tsang Kai-wing, his father, a retired football coach and footballer, joined the Royal Hong Kong Police Force from 1940 to 1972. After being found guilty of fraud and sentenced to three years in prison, he fled to Taiwan, where he is now free pending an appeal. After ten years of civil proceedings, the Department of Justice confiscated his house in La Salle Road in 2001 and later auctioned it for HK$4.35 million. Tsang Kai-wing and his son Eric and other family friends around him died in Taiwan in 2011.

Tsang is the cousin of former Commerce and Economic Growth Minister Frederick Ma.

Tsang was a professional soccer player in Hong Kong in his youth.

Personal life

Tsang is a devout Buddhist who is often leading other actors in attempts to raise funds for Hong Kong Buddhist temples and events.

Natalis Chan and Alan Tam, both well-known singers and actors from Hong Kong, are among Tsang's best friends. Since both parents were members of the police service and played football together, Tsang has been close friends with Tam's family.

Tsang has been married twice. He married Taiwanese actress Wang Mei Hua () in 1972 and the two children, Bowie Tsang and Tsang Wing Yee, were born. In 1975, the couple married. Wang's elderly daughter returned to Taiwan, while their younger daughter moved to Canada.

His second marriage was to Rebecca Chu () in 1989, and the couple had two sons, Derek Tsang, the director of Better Days, and Mark Tsang. Chu and their two sons were able to migrate to Toronto, Canada, without Tsang, who opted to remain in Hong Kong and have been in a long-distance relationship since then. The Hong Kong 3 Weekly Magazine announced on April 21 that Tsang's current wife, Sung Lai Wah (), had been living apart for 20 years. Bowie Tsang was dismissed on the next day. Sung Lai Wah was in fact Alan Kuo's mother. Chu died of cancer at the Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital on August 3rd.

In December 2013, Next Magazine published an anonymously edited interview with actress Yammie Lam, where she claimed she had been assaulted by two Hong Kong entertainment industry "big brothers" 20 years ago. According to Lam, one of the individuals died not long ago, while the other individual is still alive. The second individual allegedly assaulted her during a Singapore film festival, according to her. However, the names of the suspected criminals were blocked out of the recording, sparking a lot of media speculation. It's not clear who the interviewer was; in fact, the interviewer's voice shows evidence of being digitally converted from a natural female voice to a male voice. In January 2018, a mainland Chinese journalist published what appears to be an uncensored video of Yammie Lam's 2013 interview. In the latest 2018 clip, the interviewer now has a natural female voice, and Alan Tang (deceased in 2011) and Eric Tsang as the two suspected rapists of Lam. Media analysts have endorsed the legitimacy of the recently posted video, noting that the 2018 clip had no noise removal or other post-production traces; therefore, anyone leaked the video must have had direct access to the original unedited video.

Grace Han, a talent agent who previously worked with the Ford Models agency in Asia, confirmed Eric Tsang's sexual harassment conviction against him two days after the film's release in January 2018. Han argued that Eric Tsang sexually assaulted more than one woman, and that he knew of a specific incident in which a group of female Hong Kong celebrities, led by Tsang, allegedly drugged seven female models in a Hong Kong karaoke bar and assaulted six of them, killing six of them, although six of them were assaulted, while another escaped after she noticed the drugging. Han's Weibo post has since been archived.

Tsang denied the authenticity of the uploaded video and denied Grace Han's assertion. Tsang filed a defamation case against Grace Han in the Hong Kong High Court, arranged a press conference, and Tsang announced that "punishment" is needed. Tsang has also stated to the media that he had already won a defamation case in 2006 on similar grounds, but independent media outlets haven't been able to verify this claim.

Eric Tsang Career

Career

Tsang began his show business career as a stuntman. Tsang is often the master of ceremonies (MC) in Hong Kong's television network TVB's events; due to his role as the show's main host, he was dubbed "Prize Master" (). He produced parody comedy cassette tapes with songwriter, actor, and comedian Andrew Lam Man Chung in the 1980s and 1990s. Tsang's singing vocal range is a tenor with no falsetto.

He is known as a little plump guy with a habit of speaking before actually considering, causing him to land himself into hot water. Joey Yung's sarcastic remarks have resulted in him being assaulted by triads over a bad mouthing artist. He often favors contestants in Hong Kong as an MC in the Miss Chinese International Pageant.

Tsang has appeared in several well-received Hong Kong films, receiving accolades and nominations. He began his career as a sidekick, and it wasn't until his daughter Bowie Tsang's encouragement to avoid doing comedic roles that he was able to participate in a Hong Kong best actor award. Perry Lam, a Muse film critic, wrote that Tsang brings directness, straightness, and a lack of nonsense to any role he plays, and occasionally demonstrates an uncanny ability to enter the egoless states of which only the best of character actors like Robert Duvall are capable.' Tsang has also worked as an occasional performer. In a low-range tenor or high-range baritone of 2 octaves, he performs his parodies and theme songs to variety performances.

Tsang was named deputy general manager and special advisor to the executive committee of the TVB in January 2021 and will be in charge of the variety show and infotainment segment. Tsang was chosen to audition in Miss Hong Kong 2021.
