Emily Hahn Life

* Emily "Mickey" Hahn (Chinese: ?

?

January 14, 1905-February 18, 1905 – February 18, 1997) was an American journalist and author. * By The New Yorker magazine, she was considered a pioneer feminist and "a forgotten American literary treasure" who was also the author of 54 books and more than 200 research and short stories. * Her books in the twentieth century were instrumental in opening Asia and Africa to the west. * Her extensive travels throughout her life and her love for animals inspired much of her writing. She travelled to the Belgian Congo and hiked across Central Africa in the 1930s after living in Florence and London in the mid-1920s. * In 1935, she travelled to Shanghai, where she studied English for three years and became involved with influential figures, including The Soong Sisters and Chinese poet Shao Xunmei (Sinmay Zau).
