Helen Elswyth Thane Ricker Beebe (May 16, 1900 – July 31, 1984) was an American romance novelist.
She was born in Burlington, Iowa, and the granddaughter of a local teacher and a high school principal.
The family moved to New York City in 1918, and "Helen Ricker" shortened her name to "Elswyth Thane" after she arrived.
She began working as a freelance writer in the 1920s and then became a newspaper journalist and a Hollywood screenwriter.
