Elnaaz Norouzi, 30, released a video in which she shed her state-mandated headcarf in solidarity with the mass protests sparked in Iran following Mahsa Amini's detention, 22, who was detained by the morality police for 'inappropriate clothing.' The actress is first seen standing with only her hands, eyes, and feet visible, while the remainder of her body is covered in a black hijab and robes. In a dramatic reaction to the authoritarian state's clothing laws for women, the actress peels off each piece of clothing layer by layer and lets her hair down. The actress then goes even farther, removing a first layer of underpants and bra, and only her hands from her chest.
