Elizabeth Hummel (born July 8, 1958, in Topeka, Kansas) is an American singer-songwriter best known for her activities in the San Diego area, where she was voted “Best Acoustic Artist” in 1995.
Musical career
Hummel has worked with musicians like Cindy Lee Berryhill (who coined the term "anti-folk"), Joy Eden Harrison, Mary Dolan, Morgan Doctor, Scott and Rosebud Ireland, Steve Poltz (The Rugburns, Jewel), Gregory Page, Lisa Sanders, and many others over the years. Often in San Diego, when performing at Java Joe's, Poltz, Jewel, Berryhill, or whoever was in attendance, she would be accompanied on stage.
In 1995, she was named "Best Acoustic Artist" in the San Diego area (her other honoraries were Jewel 1994, Poltz 1993).
Hummel joined Berryhill in 1998 to create the "Life Room Tour" which attracted their Internet followers. In 1998, Sarah McLachlan and others appeared at The Lilith Fair. She lives in Olympia, Washington, where she spent the majority of her childhood and continues to compose and perform her music.
Hummel's co-producer Brian Castillo is embarking on a new musically unique venture dubbed "Waterwitch Canticles." The Turning Point is her most recent album, which was released in January 2006, was co-produced with Castillo (The Living Jarboe, Salon Betty, Euclid). She had released The Cauldron in 1995, American Stories in 2002, several cassettes, and limited edition CDs prior to her latest album. Hummel's songs have appeared on several movie soundtracks, which she has described as one of her favorite ways for her music to reach a large audience, and she continues to add new songs to her catalog, totaling over 500.

Hummel co-produced and appeared in a Sandman The Rapping Cowboy music video in October 2008.
Hummel and Castillo's first joint full-length album, Waterwitch, was released in 2009.
