Elizabeth Berkley Life

Elizabeth Berkley (born July 28, 1972) is an American actress and reality show host.

Jessie Spano of Saved by the Whistle and Nomi Malone in the 1995 Paul Verhoeven film Showgirls were two of Berkley's most notable roles.

Early life

Berkley was born and raised in Farmington Hills, Michigan, in a wealthy northern suburb neighborhood neighborhood. She is the niece of Jere, a gift-basket business owner, and Fred Berkley, a lawyer. She has an older brother named Jason. Her family is Jewish. She was born in a Conservative Jewish family and had a bat mitzvah.

She was born with partial heterochromia, a disorder of differently colored irises; her right eye is half green and half brown; and her left eye is completely blue; and her left eye is green. She graduated from North Farmington High School in Farmington Hills, Mi., in 1990.

She danced and trained in a room her parents arranged for her in the basement from a young age. She auditioned for the lead role in Annie's film. When she decided she wanted to study dance professionally, she moved to New York City to study with dancers and choreographers. She appeared in many ballets, including Swan Lake, and appeared in many musicals in 1983.

Personal life

Berkley was tangentially involved in a $45 million lawsuit when actor and screenwriter Roger Wilson filed a lawsuit against Leonardo DiCaprio, alleging that DiCaprio had encouraged his friends to assault Wilson in a street confrontation involving invitations to socialize directed at Berkley. Wilson was reportedly pursued Berkley while in a symbiosis, and Wilson confronted DiCaprio about the accusation.

Berkley married artist and comedian Greg Lauren at the Esperanza Hotel in Cabo San Lucas on November 1, 2003. Elizabeth Berkley Laurence Laurent officially changed her name to Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, but she also uses her maiden name more effectively. In July 2012, she gave birth to their son.

Berkley's birth year is often misidentified as 1972. Berkley claims she was actually born in 1974, quoting both her mother and her birth certificate.

Elizabeth Berkley Career

Career

Before pursuing an acting career, Berkley was a teen model for Elite. She made her television debut in 1987's television film Frog, as well as appearing on several other television shows. She auditioned for Kelly Kapowski in Saved by the Bell in 1989, but the show's producers were unable to decide whether or not to cast Tiffani-Amber Thiessen or her. They created Jessie Spano, a role she played from 1989 to 1993 in both of the show's television and film versions.

Berkley earned the role of Nomi Malone, the lead character in the controversial Paul Verhoeven film Showgirls (1995). In the United States, the sex and nudity-laden film (the first big-budget film to receive the rating) was rated as a box office bomb during its initial, theatrical run, and critics slammed it. Berkley's appearance received critical feedback, with Todd McCarthy describing it as "harsh, graceless, and quickly tiring," and Janet Maslin of The New York Times writing that Berkley had "the open-mouthed, vacant look of an inflatable party doll." Berkley's agency, Creative Artists Agency, reported a "tempestuous" departure from her talent firm, then headed to the ICM, William Morris Agency, and United Talent Agency, eventually deciding to work with the latter after the film's poor reception. In January 1996, she began playing in The First Wives Club, a comedy starring Diane Keaton, Goldie Hawn, and Bette Midler. Tina, then a Madonna body-double, appeared in the independent film The Real Blonde, where she appeared in a Madonna body-double. Berkley was cast in the title role in Armitage III: Poly Matrix, which also starred Kiefer Sutherland and booked supporting roles in independent films including The Taxman, Tail Lights Fade, the acclaimed Roger Dodger (winner of the inaugual Tribeca Film Festival), and Moving Malcolm. She also appeared in Oliver Stone's Sports Drama Any Given Sunday as a call girl, as well as a key supporting role in Woody Allen's The Curse of the Jade Scorpion. In the London stage version of Lenny, she appeared on stage with Eddie Izzard as Honey.

Berkley made her Broadway debut in Sly Fox with Richard Dreyfuss in February 2004, only months after her marriage to artist Greg Lauren.

Bonnie was substituted by Catherine Kellner as Bonnie in David Rabe's Hurlyburly 2005 off-Broadway production, staring Ethan Hawke, Parker Posey, and Bobby Cannavale. Berkley received acclaim for her participation in the show, with Charles Isherwood of The New York Times apologizing to her for her previous criticisms of her abilities, implying that her participation in this highly coveted group of scene-stealers is a testament to how much her talent has increased." Jennifer Aniston, Rosie Perez, and Lili Taylor appeared in the sixth annual 24 Hour Plays, in which six writers, six producers, 24 actors, and production crews had 24 hours to plan, direct, and perform six 10-minute plays.

Berkley has appeared on countless television shows, including CSI: Miami, NYPD Blue, Without a Trace, Threshold, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Shannon appeared on a number of shows including the title character's sister Shannon in the hit and critically acclaimed sitcom Titus. Christie Dawson, a high-school teacher wrongfully accused of sexual harassment by one of her students, who is obsessed with her, appeared in Lifetime's Student Seduction, where she played Christie Dawson, a high-school teacher who is wrongfully accused of sexual assault by one of her students. In 2007, Black Widow, a made-for-television film in which she played a woman accused of murdering her husbands for their money, was followed by another made-for-television film. In 2008, the film Meet Market, in which she appeared with Julian McMahon, Krista Allen, and Aisha Tyler, was released straight to DVD.

Berkley joined CSI: Miami in 2008, where she portrays Horatio Caine's (David Caruso) ex-lover Julia Winston, who is also the mother of his recently discovered son. Berkley's episodes were highly rated, and all of them were included in the top-ten Nielsen ratings chart. She has since appeared in the show's season-six finale.

Berkley hosted Bravo's reality show Step It Up and Dance, a competition that pits ten wannabe dancers against each other to win a cash reward of $100,000 along with the opportunity to work with and perform for some of the country's top choreographers. On Bravo, the show premiered in April 2008 and was cancelled after the first season. With 826,000 viewers, the show came out as the network's best time slot in its time slot (10/11 C) had the most viewers. The show continued to thrive during its run, with 76,000 viewers per week (of whom 522,000 were aged 18 to 49) and contributing to Bravo's highest-rated April ever. Hosting the show is a fulfilling career, according to Berkley. She was quoted as saying she is "invested in the dancers" because she has befriended several of them offstage.

Berkley appeared on many television shows, including ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and Fuse TV's The Sauce, E! Chelsea Lately, The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch of CNBC, and ABC's The View from Donny Deutsch are among the many celebrities to have appeared on television. She spoke about her admiration for co-host Whoopi Goldberg, who dubbed her "an extraordinary being" on The View. Her appearance on the show was special in that she brought the ladies of the show tap shoes and taught them a short dancing lesson. In the David Arquette-directed short film "The Butler's in Love" premiered at Mann's Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles in June 2008, Berkley appeared alongside Thomas Jane.

Berkley appeared in a multi-episode arc of Showtime's The L Word for the sixth and final season in 2009. Kelly Wentworth, a straight girl who moved away from Jennifer Beals' character Bette Porter in college, appeared in Kelly Wentworth. Berkley and Beals are the best friends in real life, having worked on Roger Dodger's 2002 independent film. Berkley continued with television appearances, reprising her role as Julia Winston in CSI: Miami, appearing in three more episodes, including the season-seven finale. Trudy, a former heroin addict turned born-again Christian who is infatuated with her pastor, was the sequel to the cult hit Donnie Darko, S. Darko. Tracy was also seen as Tracy in the 2009 film Women in Prison.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar, co-star Mark-Paul Gosselaar on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in June 2009, expressed his desire to attend Jimmy Fallon's "class reunion" of the show's original cast members, confirming that Berkley had also agreed to participate in the reunion. Dennis Haskins, Lark Voorhies, Mario Lopez, Elizabeth Berkley, and Mark-Paul Gosselaar all agreed to a reunion. On the evening, Gosselaar reprised his role as Zack Morris on the late evening of June 8, 2009, while still promoting his then-current TNT drama, Raising the Bar. The parody ended with a performance of "Friends Forever" by Zack Attack, in which Zack Attack's guitar player and sang with support from Fallon's house band, the Roots. Tiffani Thiessen made a parody video to the online publication Funny or Die, where she said she was just too occupied to participate in a reunion.

Berkley was the lead female actress in the Hallmark Channel original film Lucky Christmas in 2011, about a woman who wins the lottery but who later had to retrieve the ticket from her stolen vehicle's glove compartment. On November 12, 2011, the film premiered there.

Berkley was named as one of the contestants on the 17th season of Dancing with the Stars in September 2013. She worked with Valentin Chmerkovskiy. They were ruled out of the competition for the ninth week of competition and ended in 6th place, despite high judge ratings. Numerous outstanding marks were granted and praised by the expert panel judges. Ultimately, however, the public vote ended her team based on the show's popularity metrics.

The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story, starring actress Tiera Skovbye, premiered in 2014. Berkley reunited with Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Dennis Haskins, and Tiffani Thiessen on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on February 4, 2015, where they appeared in a Saved by the Bell sketch with Fallon. Berkely revived Jessie Spano's role in the Saved by the Bell sequel series in November 2020.

Berkley launched Ask-Elizabeth, a now defunct self-help website for teen girls in 2010. When husband Greg Lauren expressed concern about the number of girls who came to her asking for assistance and joked that she should have her own column, she was inspired. She regularly meets with young girls to discuss various aspects and topics to help them with any issues they are facing, as well as recalling her own experiences in the past.

Ask-Elizabeth was also the working title of a reality television show focusing on the program's success and continuing efforts to assist girls around the country. Berkley, a MV-produced program, spent time in the United States researching the topics and topics that were most relevant to teenage girls. Berkley, vice president of research in MTV's News and Documentaries division, approached MTV with the proposal, according to Amy Bailey, vice president of design. "She runs these workshops around the country with teenage girls, causing them to really open up about self-confidence and body concerns," Bailey said. "We had been looking for a service that addressed the same problems, so it seemed to be a good match." The show's fate is uncertain, as it was supposed to premiere in late 2008, but it never got off the ground.

Ask-Elizabeth, a teenage girl's self-help book, was released in 2011, but it was excluded from the Ask-Elizabeth book, which drew from the workshops she conducted for the Ask-Elizabeth project.
