Jane Awindor (born April 10, 1987), better known by her stage name Efya, is a Ghanaian singer, songwriter, and actress from Kumasi.
She is the daughter of Nana Adwoa Awindor, a filmmaker and celebrity host of the late television show Greetings From Abroad.
Efya got her first exposure to fame when she participated in the maiden edition of the Stars of the Future talent show.
She won the Best Female Vocal Performance category at the Ghana Music Awards in four succession, beginning in 2011.

Life and music career
Efya was born in Kumasi, Ghana. She has two brothers and a sister. Efya obtained her secondary education from Yaa Asantewa Secondary School. When her mother was enrolled at the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI) film school in Accra, she moved to Accra. At a young age, Efya began receiving voice training from several of her family members. She graduated from the University of Ghana with a degree in theatre and music. She gained national recognition in 2008 after being named the first runner up in Charterhouse's Stars of The Future television series. She lost to Irene Logan but she landed herself a three-year recording contract. The recording contract enabled her and Irene to record Unveiled, a joint album that was unveiled in South Africa. Following the close of her recording contract with Charterhouse, Efya continued to record songs and appear at local gigs. Miss Jane to Efya before going solo, she changed her stage name from Miss Jane to Efya. "I wanted a name that was African and unique while still being relevant to me in a way," Efya said in an interview published on the Modern Ghana website. "Efya" was my manager, Jimmi, who aided me in coming up with the word "efya." She signed a recording contract with One Nation Entertainment in 2011.
On November 12, 2013, Efya's debut mixtape TINT was released. The mixtape is a play on This Is Not The Album, and it was announced as a precursor to Janesis. It was also available for free digital download, and it was also supported by the singles "Getaway" and "Best in Me" for free download. T.I.N.T.T. is a collection of songs that were released between 2011 and 2013. It features a Black Magic guest appearance. "Best in Me" was the mixtape's second single to be released on February 14, 2012. "Best in Me" was directed by OJ of Big OJ Films, and the music video for "Best in Me" was released on YouTube in September 2013. "Body" was a cover of Chris Brown's single "Don't Judge Me" on February 14, 2013.
On April 22, 2016, Efya released Janesis, her debut studio album. In the third quarter of 2013, it was originally planned for release. However, the launch date was postponed. "Forgetting Me" was the album's lead single, and it was released on January 11, 2014. The performance was met with a huge audience. Modern Ghana's writer described the song as a "powerful ballad that tells the tale of passion and heartbreak." In an interview with Alexis Stephens of MTV Iggy in 2013, Efya said the album will have a variety of love songs as well as exploring the universal topics of hatred and pain. In addition, Efya's album was based on her personal experiences.
As the album's second single, the Bisa Kdei-assisted track "One of Your Own" was unveiled on July 16, 2014. Efya had intended to debut "Gingam Too Much" as her second single, but after discussions with her team, she decided to postpone the announcement of the aforesaid single.
"Gingam Too Much" by Kaywa was eventually released on December 26, 2014 as the album's third single. Prince Dovlo of Seven Streets Entertainment produced "Forgetting Me"'s music video. Wizkid, a Nigerian musician, released a solo single "Daddy Yo" on December 23, 2016 with uncredited vocals by Efya. However, Efya appears in the music video, to be precise. The reggae-infused track "Until the Dawn" was released by Efya on June 10, 2017. Maleek Berry, a Nigerian-born record producer and recording artist, created the album.
Efya revealed the debut of "The Native Chic" in December 2019.
