Eduardo Torres Xol (born February 19, 1966) is a Mexican-American actor, actress, television presenter, promoter, campaigner, and businessman.
He is best known to American television viewers for his work as a designer on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, which formerly appeared on ABC.
Childhood and education
Xol was born on February 19, 1966. He is Eduardo and Mirna Torres' oldest son. He grew up in East Los Angeles, California. Mónica Cajayon and Ernesto Torres, his younger siblings.
Xol was one of the youngest musicians to be couted and invited to appear with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of ten. He performed on an exchange program to give a series of piano recitals by the age of 13.
Xol performed at The Palm Beach Club in Cannes, France, during his adolescence. When dancing with the Mexican Dance Theatre of Los Angeles, Xol made his debut in Zoot Suit with Edward James Olmos. He enrolled in the University of California's Los Angeles theater program. Although Xol supervised and produced several musical theatre comedy revues that toured around the United States, the troupes devolved and performed many musical theatre comedy revues.
Early career
Xol left Latin America, where he worked in Mexico and television under the stage name of "Edi Xol." He appeared in many worldwide syndicated telenovelas, including Acapulco, cuerpo y alma, Sentimientos Ajenos, and La Jaula de Oro, as well as producing music and videos.
His production company partnered with BMG U.S. Latin to produce his first solo album, La Pasión, and the first single "Somos" ("We Are") was nominated for a Lo Nuestro Award for Video of the Year. At Via Del Mar, Chile, he represents the United States at the International Music Festival. Xol was one of Latin America's most attractive and stunning bachelors soon, according to Elle, Harper's Bazaar and Somos magazines.
Xol returned to the United States in 1998 as he brought his musical composition and entertainment production skills into the field of lifestyle and design. As he learned how to care for bonsai trees, he began spending time with his father. It was this work with plants that sparked his design aesthetic and life philosophy.
