Education and early career

Espinosa was born in Anaheim, California, of Mexican descent. She began singing at the age of three, appeared at the age of five, and released her debut at the age of ten. She appeared in the role of Maria in West Side Story at Canyon High School. Espinosa spent time at local theme parks, such as Disneyland and Universal Studios, after graduating. She has performed in front of worldwide audiences as part of the wildly popular performing group The Young Americans, which is based in Southern California and performs around the world.

Career

Espinosa made her Broadway debut as a member of Stephen Schwartz's original Broadway cast's musical Wicked, which opened on October 30, 2003. In the role of Elphaba, she began the performance as a standby for Idina Menzel. Nessarose's role as an understudy. During the summer of 2004, Espinosa starred Elphaba for a month in a row, while Menzel was filming Ask the Dust. Espinosa appeared alongside Kristin Chenoweth and Jennifer Laura Thompson when it came to Menzel. Espinosa took the lead for Brooklyn's debut on September 5, 2004 after being stranded on September 5, 2004.

Espinosa, the leading role in Elphaba for the Wicked First National tour in San Francisco, ran from August 5 to September 11, 2005, following the closing of Brooklyn the Musical. Stephanie J. was replaced by her. Block 1: While Block recovered from an injury. She played opposite Kendra Kassebaum as Glinda in this performance.

Espinosa debuted in the lead role of Elphaba for the Broadway production of Wicked on January 10, 2006, taking over Shoshana Bean's role. On March 21, 2006, Espinosa performed at the Wicked centennial celebration of its 1,000th appearance on Broadway. Espinosa appeared on Broadway as Glinda opposite Megan Hilty and Kate Reinders. Ana Gasteyer took over the Broadway show on October 8, 2006, and she was displaced by Ana Gasteyer.

Espinosa was named for the 2006 Broadway Audience Award for her role as Elphaba during her Broadway debut as lead.

Espinosa was chosen to play Elphaba in Los Angeles's third US production of Wicked, which opened on February 21, 2007, at the Pantages Theatre. Megan Hilty, a former Broadway co-star, opened the show as Glinda. Her role as an actress has received a largely critical reaction. Espinosa retired from the Los Angeles company on December 30, 2007, and Caissie Levy took over.

Following Rent's closing, she returned to Wicked, Los Angeles, on October 31, 2008, to reprise the role of Elphaba and remained with the show until its closing night on January 11, 2009. Wicked Los Angeles was one of Los Angeles' most financially successful musicals.

Espinosa took over Elphaba from Teal Wicks' San Francisco production Wicked on March 2, 2010. She appeared opposite Kendra Kassebaum as Glinda, who had appeared on the Wicked First National tour before in San Francisco. Espinosa was fired on June 26, 2010 and Marcie Doddd replaced him. Espinosa was the last time the Elphaba had played.

Espinosa began and taught the title role in Brooklyn's Musical over the course of two years. Its world premiere took place on April 30, 2003 (previews), and the Denver Civic Center was until June 15, 2003.

Espinosa first appeared on Broadway on October 21, 2004, and stayed with the play until it closed on June 26, 2005. It was a combination of 27 previews and 284 live performances.

Espinosa was Laurel Prize for her performance in 2005's Drama League for Distinguished Performance. She appeared on the original Broadway cast recording of Brooklyn the Musical.

In the closing cast of the original Broadway performance of Rent at the Nederlander Theatre, Espinosa replaced Nicolette Hart as Maury Johnson (which was also played by Idina Menzel).

Espinosa performed on Good Morning America and the 2008 Tony Awards (which featured the original and closing Broadway casts) to participate in the promotion for Rent's farewell appearances. Rent's last Broadway performance, which Espinosa also appeared in), was also shot on September 7, 2008.

Espinosa appeared in a production of Flora the Red Menace, which ran at UCLA's Freud Playhouse from May 6 to 8. Espinosa made her West End debut in "Neverland," a benefit concert that raised money for British charities Ovarian Cancer Action and NCH. The performance took place at the Duchess Theatre in London.

Espinosa made her solo concert debut with a co-headlining show with Tony Award nominee Euan Morton at Town Hall in New York City as part of the venue's Cabaret Festival on October 22, 2005.

Espinosa's solo performance "Me" at Joe's Pub in New York City, directed by Billy Porter, took place in March 2009. On Friday, July 24, 2009, she returned to Southern California with her show at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre in Southern California.

In December 2009, she performed "From Eden With Love" at the Razz Room at Hotel Nikko in San Francisco, CA.

Espinosa made headliner Brunstein's/54 Below opening in September 2012 as one of the first major lineup acts to open Feinstein's/54 Below with a themed display devoted to acclaimed singer-songwriter Eva Cassidy.

In the summer of 2009, she was seen as a soloist on Disneyland's new firework spectacle "Magical," where she performed Magical's theme song and Disney hits such as "Baby Mine" as well as Disney songs.

Espinosa opened Unplugged & Unplanned, a new acoustic solo performance at The Green Room 42 in February 2020. Any concert, the show's setlist would be completely new. The February shows were sold out; it included an extension that ran into March 2020. The final two shows were, on the other hand, were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Espinosa returned and completed the last two shows of the residency when live performances began in 2021.

Many of Espinosa's concerts are now performed in the style influenced by her Unplugged & Unplanned show's setlist, including solo albums, pop/rock covers, and a Musical Theater fan request section. She headlined her first solo performance at The Space Las Vegas Strip on August 8, 2021. The concert was also livestreamed for those who weren't able to attend it. Espinosa performed a one-night only concert in Holmdel, NJ, on November 13, 2021, as part of the Broadway at the Barn collection.

Espinosa revealed in August 2012 that she was working on her debut solo album, which featured contemporary Broadway hits with a pop sensibility. The album was released on December 18, 2012, debuting at #41 on the iTunes Pop Charts. The album also received numerous awards for independent musicians, including the Independent Music Awards for Pop Album of the Year, Female Pop Vocalist of the Year, and Producer of the Year (which went to Espinosa's producer, Joseph Abate).

Espinosa announced on July 25, 2015, that she was in the early stages of her sophomore studio album's development. She announced a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the album, just like with Look Around. Due to Espinosa's busy schedule, voiceover work, concerts, and personal situations that ended up inspiring the album of the original songs, Espinosa's schedule was postponed. On January 23, 2019, the sophomore album, titled "Revelation," was officially announced. It debuted at #15 on the Pop iTunes charts, tagging it at #15.

Espinosa has appeared on several television shows, including Law & Order, Robot Chicken, and Dog Whisperer. Sasha Caylo's voice on the super robot animated series Titan Maximum, an original show created for Adult Swim, was a regular appearance on Sasha Caylo in 2009.

In the episode "Somebody Wicked This Way Comes" starring Espinosa and other Los Angeles Wicked actors, the ABC series Ugly Betty included performances of "I'm Not That Girl" and "Defying Gravity."

In the 2017 film Tangled: Rapunzel's handmaiden and confidant Cassandra, she appeared. She sang lead vocals for the song "Waiting in the Wings," written by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater and whom received the Silver Medal for Outstanding Original Song in a Children's, Young Adult, or Animated Program at the 2020 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Song in a Children's, Young Adult, or Animated Program.

Espinosa and real life best friend vocalist and Rent alumna Kamilah Marshall developed a weekly web series called Game Night with Eden & Kamilah during the COVID-19 pandemic. The pair appeared in a friendly competition based on a series of Musical Theatre themed trivia games. On Thursday night, the series will go live on Instagram. The plug was however removed from them's lives due to the removal of music restrictions on social media. Fans of Zoom were eventually turned into a live show on Zoom. Game Night was then turned into a true live studio game show starring Espinosa and Marshall with special Broadway guests. It was announced on Broadcast on November 3, 2021.
