Early life
Dorothy Adelle DeBorba was born in Livermore, California. She came from a show business background, and that of Portuguese Azoreans. Her mother was a singer-dancer-actress, and her father was a drummer in Paul Whiteman's band.
Later life
DeBorba graduated from Van Nuys High School and then worked as a secretary for Republic Pictures. She was a senior clerk at UC-Berkeley's School of Journalism in later years. She married twice and had two children.
