Donald Harvey Life

Donald Harvey (April 15, 1952 – March 30, 2017) was a prolific serial murderer and oratorly who admitted to killing 87 people, although official figures are between 37 and 57 victims.

He was able to do this during his time as a nurse.

Harvey started out killing to "ease the pain" of patients by smothering them with their pillows, according to him, and he eventually became a self-described "angel of death."

Harvey was serving 28 life terms at the Toledo Correctional Institution in Toledo, Ohio, after pleaded guilty to murder charges to avoid the death penalty.

Early life

Donald Harvey was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on April 15, 1952, the first of three children born to Ray and Goldie Harvey. He was born in Booneville, Kentucky, where his parents, aspiring tobacco farmers and members of the local Baptist church, were struggling. Harvey was sexually assaulted by both an uncle and a neighbor, but no one told him apart from his sister, and only after the abuse ended. Harvey dropped out of school in the ninth grade, but he earned a correspondence school GED in 1968. Harvey enlisted in the United States Air Force in March 1971, but was released after nine months due to two suicide attempts; after those tumultuous breakdowns, he came to terms with his homosexuality.
