Career
Miller was born in Hurlingham, Argentina, to an Irish-born mother and an American-born father who worked for Johnson Wax. His family moved to Racine, Wisconsin, where the Johnson headquarters was located, when he was ten years old, and then to London two years later. He appeared at a Racine club for the first time as the only white man in a soul music group. He migrated to London and studied at Guildhall School of Music, then returned to the United States and took a summer class at Berklee College of Music in Boston. He also took lessons from Brazilian guitarist Sebastio Tapajós.
Miller performed as a guitarist for the International Party and King Swamp in the 1980s. Phil Collins, Paul Young, and Level 42 were among the Pretenders, Paul Young, and Level 42 as a session musician. Since 1991, he has performed and toured with Sting. With Sting, he co-wrote the hit song "Shape of My Heart." In 1995, he released First Touch, his debut solo album, followed by Second Nature and Third World.
He released the classical album Shapes in 2003, with interpretations of Bach, Beethoven, Edward Elgar, and Tomaso Albinoni.
