Martin "Doc" McKinney (born August 27, 1971) is a Canadian-born American-raised record producer and songwriter.
McKinney was once a member of the Esthero band (now solo act) and was formerly one half of the former duo (now solo act).
His collaboration with Toronto artist The Weeknd, whose McKinney-produced mixtapes House of Balloons and Thursday, was met with largely critical acclaim in 2011.
McKinney made his third album, Starboy, which he coproduced with him.
The album also received the Best Urban Contemporary Album award in 2016.

Life and career
McKinney, born in Canada and raised in Minneapolis, grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and became immersed in the Twin Cities' indie vibes. McKinney performed in various punk rock and hip hop bands throughout his adolescent years. McKinney was immersed in the music scene of the 1980s, making the cities' most influential contributions come out of the 1980s.
McKinney became a young producer in Toronto in 1994. McKinney was introduced to Jenny Bea Englishman, now known as "Esthero," which led to him to become one half of the then duo. Michael McCarty, the then-EMI Publishing President, was in charge of the launch. McKinney carefully transitioned Jenny-Bea into a solo act after co-writing and recording their entire breakthrough album Breath From Another. McKinney continued to produce Res – co-writing and releasing her critically acclaimed album, How I Do, alongside Santi White (Santigold). McKinney has since worked with Santi White (Santigold) on a variety of projects, including the debut of her Solid Gold Mixtape in 2008.
Since then, McKinney has had the opportunity to work with Sting, Drake, Kelis, Dr. Dre, G-Love, Raphael O'Connor, Maria Smith, Farrington, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Trouble Andrew, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Haydiq, Susan Smith, Belinda, RBD, and Debi Nova.
