DeLane Matthews (born August 7, 1961) is an American actor.
She is best known for her appearance in Beth Barry's TV sitcom Dave's World from 1993 to 1997.
Life and career
DeLane Matthews was born in northern Florida and was raised in a family farm. After being recruited to join the Kennedy Center/Juilliard School Acting Company, she moved to Manhattan. She appeared in theater productions and appeared in City Boys Off-Broadway at the Jewish Rep. and Pieces of Eight at The Public Theatre. She appeared in The Cradle Will Rock, The Merry Wives of Windsor, and Pericles, as well as touring in The Bat, Grease, and I Oughta Be in Pictures.
Matthews converted from daytime television to primetime television on Peter Boyle's ABC comedy show Joe Bash (1986), portraying streetwalker Lorna. It was cancelled after six episodes. In 1988, she appeared alongside Scott Bakula and Patricia Richardson in the CBS sitcom Eisenhower and Lutz' one season. She and Richardson then went on to appear on NBC sitcom FM (1989-1990), as well as Robert Hays, and in 1992, Laurie Hill was the first female correspondent on the ABC sitcom Laurie Hill. Matthews earned a female leading role opposite Harry Anderson in the CBS sitcom Dave's World in 1993; the film ran until 1997. Matthews returned to Bakula in 1995 as a guest star on the two-part miniseries The Invaders; the two actors also appeared together when she appeared in the 1992 film "Roberto!" Quantum Leap, the actor's series.
