Early life
Lovejoy was born in Abilene, Texas. Her father was in the Air Force and worked at Dyess Air Force Base.
Lovejoy grew up in Connecticut and then Pittsburgh before deciding with her mother to Elkhart, Indiana, where Lovejoy was still in the fourth grade. Marcia Fulmer, her mother, married her second husband in Elkhart and served as the Elkhart Truth's Arts and Entertainment editor. Lovejoy appeared in her first acting role as one of Big Daddy's grandchildren in an Elkhart Civic Theatre production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, in which her mother appeared as Mae (aka "Sister Woman"). Lovejoy appeared in various productions at the Elkhart Civic Theatre later in life, often with her mother.
Lovejoy graduated from Elkhart Memorial High School in 1980. She graduated from the University of Evansville in 1984 with a double major in theatre and communications. She received a Master of Fine Arts from the New York University Tisch School of the Arts three years ago.
Career
Lovejoy appeared in her first television appearance in 1990 as Rosemary Kennedy in ABC's The Kennedys of Massachusetts. She appeared on Law & Order, Seinfeld, Third Watch, Spin City, NYPD Blue, The West Wing, Cold Case, and Order: Special Victims Unit throughout the 1990s and 2000s.
Attorney Rhonda Pearlman appeared on HBO's The Wire from 2002 to 2008. Heather Taffet (aka "The Gravedigger"), a serial killer and murderer, appeared on the television series Bones from 2009 to 2011. Lovejoy appeared in the film Bad Teacher starring Cameron Diaz in 2011.
