Dean George Cain (né Tanaka; born July 31, 1966) is an American actor, producer, and television show host best known for his role as Clark Kent/Superman in the television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.
He was also the host of Ripley's Believe It or Not! Hit the Floor was a soap opera performance performed by actress Jonny Coveney.
Early life
Dean George Tanaka was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan, on July 31, 1966, to Roger Tanaka, a United States serviceman and actress Sharon Thomas. Cain is of partial Japanese descent through his biological father, with the remainder of his ancestry being Welsh, Irish, and French Canadian. Cain said of his biological father, whom he never met: "He's not the kind of man I like to be." He was an unfaithful husband and not much of a father." Dean's mother, who was also looking for a career in acting, and his older brother Roger moved to Los Angeles soon after. Sharon Cain, a film director who later adopted Dean and Roger, married her in 1969. Krisinda, the couple's daughter, was born in Malibu, California, and later had a daughter.
Cain attended Santa Monica High School, where he excelled in athletics. Charlie Sheen, who captained the Cain baseball team as a child, as well as Rob Lowe and his brother, Chad, were among his classmates. Cain graduated from high school in 1984 and enrolled Princeton University, where he played as a free safety on the football team. During the 1987 season, he set a Princeton career record of 12 interceptions (in only 10 games) and ended his collegiate career with 22 interceptions in 30 games. Cain was given the John P. Poe–Richard W. Kazmaier Jr. Football Trophy during his senior year. When he was at the university, he dated actress Brooke Shields. Cain obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1988. Cain dated actress Brooke Shields for two years while they were both attending Princeton University in the 1980s. Gabrielle Reece, a professional beach volleyball player and model, dated him in 1992. Cain got engaged to singer Mindy McCready in 1997, but the pair split the following year.

Career
After graduating Cain as a free agent with the Buffalo Bills, but a knee injury during training camp ended his football career early.
Cain converted to screenwriting and then acting, shooting hundreds of commercials, including a volleyball-themed spot for Kellogg's Frosted Flakes and appearing on popular television shows like Grapevine, A Different World, and Beverly Hills, 90210, with little expectation of returning to sports.
Cain appeared in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman from 1993 to date. The program is expected to attract an average of at least 15 million viewers per episode at the height of its fame. The series lasted for four seasons, with the exception of 1997.

It was discovered that Ronnie Mund (Ronnie the Limo Driver), the personal chauffeur and bodyguard of radio DJ Howard Stern, was using a Photoshop snapshot of Cain as a publicity photograph in October 2018. Mund's head had been transposed on Cain's body. Mund denied that the photo had been altered in the beginning, but later admitted he had been using the deceptive photo for more than five years. Mund claimed he was unaware that the photograph was not genuine. Cain appeared in Gosnell: America's Biggest Serial Killer, as the investigation and conviction of Kermit Gosnell. Andy the Talking Hedgehog was his first appearance in the film.
