David Jonathan Heyman (born 26 July 1961) is an English film director and the producer of Heyday Films.
He obtained the film rights to the Harry Potter film series in 1999 and went on to produce all eight instalments, becoming one of the film's most prominent crew members.
Gravity's second collaboration with director Alfonso Cuarón after Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture and received a BAFTA Award for Best British Film in 2013.
Early life
Heyman was born in London. He is the son of John Heyman, a director of the films The Go-Between and Jesus, and Norma Heyman (née Pownall), an actor, and Oscar-nominated producer of the films Dangerous Liaisons and Mrs Henderson Presents. His paternal grandparents were German Jews who left Nazi Germany and emigrated to England before World War II, although his mother's family was English. In the marriage of his godmother, Diana Dors, to actor Alan Lake at age seven, he was a page boy. Heyman attended Westminster School and, after graduation, he decided to study abroad. In 1983, he earned a degree in art history from Harvard University.

Heyman, a designer from Pimlico, London, is married to interior designer Rose Uniacke (née Batstone). They have one son. He is the stepfather to her four children from her previous marriage to businessman and mathematician Robie Uniacke, the partner of actress Rosamund Pike since 2009.
Career
Heyman began work as a production assistant on David Lean's A Passage to India, and in 1986, he became a Warner Brothers creative executive, and he served as an assistant to Mark Canton. With his first film, Juice, in 1992, he became vice president of United Artists, kicking off a series of changes as original production VPs had left, and later began an independent production career, followed by the cult "stoner" film The Stoned Age (1994) and others.
Heyman returned to London in 1997 and formed Heyday Films, his own film company. He has since produced a number of films, including the Harry Potter film adaptations. The 2007 blockbuster I Am Legend and the 2008 films The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Is Anybody There?, and Yes Man are among other notable productions during this period.
Heyman reunited with Harry Potter and Alfonso Cuarón to produce the 2013 science fiction drama Gravity, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney after finishing work on the Harry Potter films. The film earned more than $700 million worldwide, and it was nominated for ten Academy Awards, including Best Picture and seven of Cuarón. He also directed the 2013 comedy We're the Millers and the 2014 family film Paddington, for which he was nominated for the Alexander Korda Award for Best British Film.
Heyman produced J. K. Rowling's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a Warner Bros. film adaptation that was released in November 2016 as well as the 2018 sequel. In addition, he is expected to create Fables based on the comic book series. He was named as the producer of The Queen of the Tearling, starring Emma Watson and based on Erika Johansen's book. Warner Bros. has acquired the film rights and will distribute the film.
He is also currently working on a film version of Mark Haddon's 2003 book The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time with Potter screenwriter Steve Kloves.
Heyman was commissioned by Alibaba Pictures in China to produce a film about Warriors, feral cats with a complex social hierarchy and live in a rainforest, according to Erin Hunter. STX Entertainment had taken over to co-produce the Warriors film in May 2018, with STX board member Gigi Pritzker assisting Heyman. No director or release date for the film has been confirmed as of 2021, and no announcement has been made since.
Quentin Tarantino's Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, and both of them were nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture in 2020, and he received the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
