Jeremy Thomas Career

Life and career

Thomas was born in London, England, into a filmmaking family with his father, Ralph Philip Thomas, and uncle, Gerald, both directors. He aspired to work in cinema from the beginning of his childhood. As soon as he quit school, he began working in various capacities, including the production of The Harder They Come, Family Life (film) and The Golden Voyage of Sinbad, and then went on to become a film editor for Ken Loach on A Misfortune.

Can You Spare a Dime? After editing Philippe Mora's Brother, Mad Dog Morgan made his first film Mad Dog Morgan in Australia in 1974. He then returned to England to produce Jerzy Skolimowski's The Shout, which received the Grand Prix de Jury at the Cannes Film Festival.

Thomas' films are all highly individual, and his sense of spirit has paid off both artistically and commercially. His extensive filmography includes three films directed by Nicolas Roeg: Bad Timing, Euka, and Insignificance, Julien Temple's The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle, Nagisa Oshima's Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, and Stephen Frears' The Hit.

Thomas produced Bernardo Bertolucci's epic The Last Emperor, a three-year project that was partially funded. At the 1987 Academy Awards, the film was a commercial and critical triumph, winning nine Oscars, including Best Picture.

Thomas has since completed many films, including Karel Reisz' film of Arthur Miller's screenplay Everybody Wins, Bertolucci's film of Paul Bowles' Naked Lunch, J. G. Ballard's Crash, and Christopher Hampton's A Dangerous Method (based on Hampton's The Talking Cure). In 1997, Thomas directed All the Little Animals, starring John Hurt and Christian Bale, which was in Official Selection at Cannes. Jonathan Glazer's debut film Sexy Beast, Takeshi Kitano's Brother, Khyentse Norbu's The Cup, Phillip Noyce's Young Adam, Bernardo Bertolucci's Young Adam, Terry Gilliam's The Dreamer, Richard MacMorrow's Quick Food Country, and Gerald McMorrow's Franklyn, starring Eva Green, Sam Riley and Ryan Phillippe, are among Alexander Trocchi's The opening Gala of the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival featured Jon Amiel's Creation, a documentary about Charles Darwin's life.

At the Venice Film Festival in 2010, Thomas premiered Essential Killing and Takashi Miike's 13 Assassins, both of which he executive produced. Essential Killing continued to win the Jury Prize and two others, a triple win in the festival's history. Pina, Wim Wenders' 3D dance film, premiered at the 2011 Berlinale, as well as executive produced it. Thomas premiered Takashi Miike's latest film, Hara-Kiri: The Death of a Samurai, the first 3D film to show in competition, at Cannes 2011.

Thomas' most recent publications include David Cronenberg's A Dangerous Method, written by Christopher Hampton and starring Keira Knightley, Viggo Mortensen, Michael Fassbender, and Vincent Cassel, which premiered at the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals in 2011. In 2012, he launched Kon-Tiki, the true story of Thor Heyerdahl's epic raft film starring Joachim Roenning and Espen Sandberg, which was nominated for a Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. Tilda Swinton, Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska, and John Hurt appear in Richard Shepard's black comedy Only Lovers Left Alive, starring Jude Law, Richard E. Grant, Demián Bichir, and Emilia Clarke in 2014, Thomas released Thomas Jarmusch's vampire opus Only Lovers Left Alive.

The latest additions to J. G. Ballard's 1970s dystopian novel High-Rise, written by Amy Jump and directed by Ben Wheatley, include Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Irons, Sienna Miller, Luke Evans, and Elisabeth Moss, as well as Tale of Tales directed by Matteo Garrone, starring Salma Hayek, Vincent Cassel, John C. Reilly, and Toby Jones.

Thomas has said of his ethos:

Thomas founded HanWay Films, Thomas' international sales arm, in 1998 to support his own films. HanWay has since expanded to sell third party films as well as supporting the libraries of several of the world's best-known filmmakers.

Thomas was Chairman of the British Film Institute from August 1992 to December 1997, and the recipient of numerous international awards, including the Michael Balcon Award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema from BAFTA and the European Film Award for Outstanding European Achievement in World Cinema. (Uncertain Regard) He has been President of the Jury at the Tokyo Film Festival, San Sebastian Film Festival, Berlin Film Festival, and Cannes Film Festival (Un Certain Regard) and has also served on the main jury at Cannes. After expelling her sons over her $20,000-per-month X-rated career, a Florida private Christian school brands OnlyFans mother a 'SINNER' who will face 'the word of Christ.'

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 11, 2024
After expelling her children because she boasted her X-rated status, a Florida private Christian school slammed an OnlyFans-famous mother as a'sinner' who will face 'the judgment of Christ.' Michelle Cline, who goes by Piper Fawn online, was initially refused from driving her car into campus because it promoted her raunchy work. However, her two children were later suspended from Liberty Christian Preparatory School after she allegedly broke the laws before inserting a larger advertisement decal on her back windshield instead, which she denies.
