David Garrison Life

David Earl Garrison (born June 30, 1952) is an American actor.

His main stage is live theatre, but Steve Rhoades is best known as the character in the television series Married...with Children.

He has appeared in numerous stage productions, including The Wizard on Broadway and numerous tours of Wicked.

Early life

Garrison was born in Long Branch, New Jersey, as the son of Earl B. Garrison, a school administrator, and Maude B. Garrison, a teacher.

Garrison debuted at Freehold High School in 1970, where he began his acting career on the school's stage. In 2007, he was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame. Garrison received a commendation from Boston University's College of Fine Arts in 1974. Following graduation, he became a member of Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., for many years.

Although Garrison is best known for his television performances and continues to appear on television in guest roles, particularly in musicals, he is mostly a theatre actor. He has appeared in a number of productions around the country, including several Broadway shows. Wicked, The Visit, The Visit, Titanic, Torch Song Trilogy, The Pirates of Penzance, Bells Are Ringing, A History of the American Film, and The Great Society are among his Broadway appearances.

I Do!, for which he received a Drama Desk Award nomination, Dead Poets Society, Middletown, New Jerusalem, Geniuses, It's Just a Play. The Cradle Will Rock, I Do! The Musical. Garrison was on tour in Guys and Dolls, as well as Wicked's Wizard, for which he was given a Carbonell Award. Garrison has appeared on television in many roles. Norman Lamb appeared on It's Your Move in 1984-1985, opposite Jason Bateman. Garrison appeared on the popular sitcom Married... with Children in 1987, portraying Steve Rhoades, next-door neighbor to the Bundy family.

Garrison loved his time as a performer in Steve Rhoades, but he left the stage after four seasons. Soon after his departure from Married... with Children, he appeared on an NBC sitcom called Working It Out. Despite this, Garrison parted on good terms, with four times in subsequent seasons (and the reunion special) focusing on Rhoades' career since he was last seen. On the program Nikki, he even parodied his own role.

In the first touring company of Wicked, he played The Wizard. On March 6, 2006, he came to an end. He debuted as the Wizard in the Broadway company from April 4, 2006, replacing Ben Vereen. He appeared in the role for 15 months, but he died on July 8, 2007. Then appeared in the Chicago company from September 30 to October 28, 2007, and then starred in the Los Angeles corporation from August 26, 2008, until its closing on January 11, 2009. He appeared in the San Francisco production, which opened on February 6, 2009, and appeared in his last performance in order to pursue a new play.
