Since a'system upgrade,' drivers are having trouble paying their Dartford Crossing bill

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 1, 2023
Since being unable to use a new payment system, motorists who want to pay the £2 fee to use the Dartford Crossing between Essex and Kent have been left irate. Drivers have taken to social media to claim that they are unable to pay the Dart Charge for crossing the River Thames using the tunnels or the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge. Following the new phone or online payment method being launched last Friday, dissatisfied customers have reported having to spend hours on the phone or online trying to pay the bill. Many people trying to pay online on the Dart Charge website were put in a queue to'manage high demand,' according to officials, who said that the Dart Charge website was 'currently at capacity.' Among those facing difficulties was broadcaster and podcast host Jemma Forte, who tweeted Dart Charge last night and said, 'Crossed the Dartford Tunnel on Thursday.' Ever since being unable to pay on and off. The website is either not working or places you in a line that never gets anywhere. I'll never get this time back. Will you waive charge or fix it please? "I'm looking for my sanity." Danny Thompson, who tweeted: "It's total carnage" has been left frustrated by the device's failure, was among other drivers who were left angry by the system's malfunctions. The latest version is a mess. Customers' instructions are non-existent.'
