Dr. Kim Harrison, 68, died after being punched, kicked, stamped on, and beaten with a broom handle by his son Daniel Harrison, 38, in March 2022 after being excluded from doctors at Neath Port Talbot Hospital (inset) who had sectioned him under the mental health code. Will Johnston, an accredited mental health specialist or 'Amhp,' said on day two of the inquest into Dr. Harrison's death in January 2021, a series of visits to Daniel Harrison to assess him. Mr Johnston's conclusion from the visits was that there was "no overt evidence" of any psychosis, and that Harrison was leading a "more healthy lifestyle" than perhaps his parents. Harrison 'had come across stereotypically as someone who would be content living in a teepee in west Wales,' according to Mr Johnston of Swansea's Guildhall courthouse.' He said that he had come across in their conversations as someone who was "gentle, thoughtful, and considerate" and that he was "very passionate about his work and the environment."

After bolting from his bed and sprinting through the Neath Port Talbot Hospital (inset) in Wales, where he was being detained, Daniel was chased by health staff. He then dashed across a parking garage and travelled 12 miles in a taxi to Coniston Hall in Swansea, where he died in March 2022. Daniel was allowed to attend his father's inquest remotely through Teams from his safe hospital, where he read a poem and a salute to his father, 'from your ever-loving son, Dan.'
