Dan Wootton (born 2 March 1983) is a New Zealand-born journalist and broadcaster.
He joined the News of the World in 2007.
He joined The Sun on Sunday and became editor of the Bizarre column the following year.
In February 2016, he became deputy editor of The Sun and then became executive editor, and in March 2018, he was promoted to executive editor of ITV Breakfast shows Lorraine and Daybreak.

Early life
Daniel John Wootton was born in Wellington, New Zealand, on 2 March 1983 to two British parents; his mother was born in Basildon, Essex, and his father was born on a British army base in Malta. Wootton grew up in Lower Hutt, a city in New Zealand's Wellington region, and studied at Naenae College and Victoria University of Wellington, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in media studies and political science.

Career
He began his career as a journalist in New Zealand, writing an entertainment column for the Wellington-based Broadsheet newspaper The Dominion Post and serving as a reporter for Good Morning. When he was 21, he came to the United Kingdom, and after a period of time as a trade journalist, he found a job with Broadcast magazine.
Wootton joined the News of the World TV team in February 2007, becoming a television reporter and show-business editor in November 2008 until its closing in July 2011. He testified to the Leveson Inquiry in 2012 about the News International phone hacking scandal, where he denied unlawfully releasing news gathered by phone hacking as editor of the News of the World.
Wootton joined The Sun newspaper in 2013 and unveiled a new column on Sundays. In 2014, he became the editor of the newspaper's Bizarre column and was promoted to associate editor (showbiz and television). At the 2010 and 2018 British Press Awards, he was named 'Showbiz reporter of the year.' Wootton appeared on ITV's morning show Lorraine from 2011 to 2019, and has been a contributor to BBC Radio 5 Live.

Depp was dubbed a "wife beater" in an article in The Sun published in 2018. The court ruled in favour of News Group on October 2nd, 2020. In 12 of Amber Heard's 14 attacks, assaults were demonstrated to the highest level, according to Mr Justice Nicol, who concluded that the Sun's story was largely accurate on the balance of probabilities.
Wootton revealed in January 2021 that he would leave The Sun and talkRADIO to become a columnist for MailOnline and host a daily show on GB News in January 2021.
