Boniface Mwangi Life

Boniface Mwangi (born July 10, 1983) is a Kenyan photojournalist, politician, and activist active in social-political activism.

He is best known for his pictures of the post-election violence that wreaked havoc on Kenya in 2007–2008.

Early life

Mwangi was born in Taveta, Kenya, along the Tanzanian border. His mother was a businesswoman who sold across the border. When Mwangi was six years old, he and his grandparents lived in Nyeri, Central Kenya.

He and his mother were later born in Nairobi's poor-income suburb of Ngara, followed by a high-rise in Majengo, Githurai 45, before finally settling in Pangani. During this period, Mwangi enrolled and dropped out of school, as well as supporting his mother in selling books.

Personal life

He is married to Hellen Njeri Mwangi, who works with Pawa 254. They have three children.
