Career

Williams appeared in a Fullerton College production of William Shakespeare's Othello, directed by Tom Blank in 1990. He appeared in another production at Fullerton College in the same year, titled Red Noses, a black comedy directed by Michael Fields and produced by Peter Barnes.

Williams has appeared on many television shows since 1994, including Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Beverly Hills, 90210, Lois & Clark, The New Adventures of Superman, JAG, Living Single, Nash Bridges, Providence, Rhode Island, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Veronica Mars, Close to Home, ER, and Grey's Anatomy. In a Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "The Jem'Hadar," he portrayed Talak'talan, a Jem'Hadar chief in the Star Trek series. Williams appeared in the Prison Break film as Wyatt Mathewson, the Company's assassination actor. Ornette Howard, father of East Dillon's star quarterback Vince Howard, appeared in the final season of Friday Night Lights as Ornette Howard. Lavon Hayes, a former football star and mayor, appeared on The CW's Hart of Dixie as former footballer and mayor Lavon Hayes.

He has ventured back to DC Comics adaptations from 2018 to 2021: Jefferson Pierce / Black Lightning on The CW's superhero TV series Black Lightning, which was embedded in Arrowverse's prime Earth during Crisis on Infinite Earths, and John Henry Irons in the animated film The Death of Superman and its 2019 sequel, Reign of the Supermen. After his Black Lightning series came to an end, he reprised his role on The Flash in its eighth season as part of its "Armageddon" celebration.
