Cory Gardner Life

Cory Scott Gardner (born August 22, 1974) is an American lawyer and politician who has served as the junior United States Senator for Colorado since 2015.

He served as the United States Representative for Colorado's 4th congressional district from 2011 to 2015, and as a member of the Colorado House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. In the 2014 Senate election, Gardner barely defeated Democratic incumbent Mark Udall.

Gardner served as Chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee from 2017 to 2019.

He and University of Colorado Regent At-Large Heidi Ganahl became Colorado's sole Republicans elected statewide, as a result of the 2018 midterm elections.

Gardner is regarded as one of the most vulnerable senators reelection in 2020.

Early life and education

Gardner was born in Yuma, Colorado, on August 22, 1974, and the son of Cindy L. (née Pagel) and John W. Gardner. He is of Irish, German, Austrian, and English descent. Cory Gardner Career

Early career

Former U.S. Attorney General Counsel and legislative director Gardner served as both general counsel and legislative director for the former president. Senator Wayne Allard of Colorado served from 2002 to 2005.

Gardner was first elected to the Colorado House of Representatives in 2005 and then re-elected to a full term in 2006. He served District 63 in the Colorado House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011.

Gardner suggested in 2006 that a rainy-day fund be established to shield the state from future economic recessions. His plan relied on funding raised by Referendum C—which allowed state revenue caps to be increased for five years—for future budget challenges. He has vehemently opposed any tax hikes. He co-founded the Colorado Clean Energy Development Authority, which issued bonds to finance projects that involve the development, transportation, and storage of clean energy until it was repealed in 2012.

Committee assignments

Gardner assumed office as the chair of the National Action Victory Fund in February 2021, a PAC that raises funds for Republican candidates. He joined Michael Best Strategies, a national lobbying company, in June 2021, five months after leaving office. In April 2022, he joined the Crypto Council for Innovation as the country's top political affairs strategist.
