How did Roberto De Zerbi fare in his Liverpool audition? As he fights against Ruben Amorim to replace Jurgen Klopp, LEWIS STEELE evaluates the Brighton manager's results at Anfield

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 1, 2024
It was sold as an audition for Roberto De Zerbi. If not for the Liverpool job, for which he has been regularly mentioned, there are already open positions in Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and, perhaps also Chelsea and Manchester United, which have vacancies. So from Merseyside to Munich, how did De Zerbi fare? Brighton lost 2-1 to Premier League leaders Liverpool, but this was certainly not a failure. The fact that the obnoxious Reds scored only twice from 30 shots was somewhat bolstered his argument. Brighton's game was a success. The Seagulls' tactic, although many teams arrived in Anfield to sit back and reduce space, caused Jurgen Klopp's men a variety of issues. Liverpool came from the first knocks and into a more threatening role. Conor Bradley, who was right back on the team sheet, was pushed right up, and the average position map from the first half resembled a 2-4-4 pattern.
