Claybourne Elder Life

Claybourne Elder (born in Utah on April 21, 1982) is an American actor, singer, and writer best known for his television and Broadway roles.

Personal life

In New York City, elder and director Eric Rosen were married on July 28, 2012. They had a boy in 2017 thanks to survivacy.

Many news outlets carried a human interest story about Elders in 2022. When a stranger approached him in 2007 as a 23-year-old amateur actor in New York City, he expressed his apparent insatisfaction with theater, told him $200 and told him to invest it the following night on a ticket to a revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Elder did watch the show and considered it—as well as the stranger's kindness—as the reasons he decided to live in New York and pursue acting. Elder, who had appeared in the Broadway revival of Elder's career by 2022, was performing in a new Sondheim revival, Company, alongside Patti LuPone, one of Elder's main stars of the Sweeney Todd film; at the same time, Elder was also starring in the HBO film The Gilded Age with Michael Cerveris, who had appeared in the title role in the Sweeney Todd revival. Elderly was reunited with Mark Howell, the stranger who had given him the gift, and "paid forward" the favor by buying strangers tickets to Company. Elder retold this story on an episode of the WBEZ radio program This American Life that explored acts of kindness from strangers in July 2022.
