Sprinklers should be mandatory, according to the Sheriff of Loch Lomond

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 11, 2023
The Scottish Government should investigate whether sprinkler systems are included in any restoration of historic buildings, according to the sheriff's report into a fire that killed a Come Dine With Me producer and his partner. Richard Dyson, 38, and his partner Simon Midgley, 32, of London, died in a fire at the five-star Cameron House Hotel in December 2017. Dyson, a Channel 4's Four in a Bed and Come Dine With Me, and Midgely, a PR manager, were on a romantic break away together. In the main reception area of the property, hot ashes were placed in a concierge cupboard.

Fire in Loch Lomond: A TV man killed with his partner's hands had cuts and blood on his hands, according to an inquiry

Richard Dyson, 38, who appeared on Channel 4's Four in Bed, and Simon Midgley, 32, (the couple, left) died as a result of the fire (left) at the five-star Cameron House hotel while on a romantic break. Phillip Douglas, a firefighter, told the Fatal Accident Inquiry that he and his coworkers were told not to leave the hotel, which is located on the banks of Loch Lomond, near Balloch, due to fears of demise. When the 35-year-old and his crew returned to school, he could not see much in the corridors and was using his feet and hands to check the area. He kicked what looked to be waste at one point, but it was actually Mr Dyson's leg that was lying on the ground covered in blood. A court had previously heard that the fire broke out after a night porter (pictured, top right) brought ash and embers from a fire into the cupboard, and the couple died of smoke inhalation.

At a terrifying time inferno, the Scottish hotel's PR chief and TV producer boyfriend died

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 16, 2022
Simon Midgley, 32, and his partner TV producer Richard Dyson, 38, of London, died as a result of the fire at the five-star Cameron House Hotel near Balloch on the banks of Loch Lomond in December 2017. At Paisley Sheriff Court, a fatal accident investigation into the deaths is being held. Fire and smoke escaped from the small room just off the reception area, according to a security camera video taken during the night of December 18th. Darren Robinson, the hotel's night manager, was on the courtroom and was shown a video of O'Malley shortly after the fire broke out, filling a black plastic bag with ashes and throwing it into the cupboard, which also stored kindling for the nearby fire.
