Franz von Holzhausen (born May 10, 1968 in Simsbury, Connecticut) is an American automobile designer, and is in charge of design at Tesla Inc.

after resigning from his position at Mazda North American Operations on July 31, 2008.

He designed the Tesla Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, Semi, second-generation Tesla Roadster, and the Cybertruck.

Career

Holzhausen began his career in 1992 with Volkswagen, where he worked on the Microbus and the New Beetle concept project, which was branded "Concept One" under design lead J Mays.

In 2000, he joined GM as a product manager, where he spent time on the Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice.

He began working at Mazda in 2005, where he was chief of design. He influenced the conception of the Mazda Kabura concept car that debuted at the 2006 North American International Auto Show and the Mazda Furai concept car that were unveiled at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

He joined Tesla in 2008 and spent eight years as a writer. He is best known for designing Tesla cars like the Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, and the recently unveiled yet not-yet-released Cybertruck, Semi, and second-generation Tesla Roadster.
