Christine Ha Life

"Hà Huy?n Trân" (Vietnamese) Christine Huyen Tran Hà (born May 9, 1979) is an American chef, writer, and television presenter.

She is the first blind contestant of MasterChef and the champion of the third season in 2012.

Early and personal life

In Los Angeles County, California, Hà was born as an only child. Her parents were of Vietnamese origins and immigrated from Saigon (present day Ho Chi Minh City) to the United States in 1975 following the Vietnam War. As a young child, she and her family immigrated to Houston, Texas. When Hà was 14 years old, she died of lung cancer.

Hà received a bachelor's degree in business administration and finance as well as MIS from the University of Texas at Austin. From the University of Houston's nationally acclaimed writing program, she obtained a master's degree in creative fiction and nonfiction.

The optic nerves and spinal cord are attacked by Neuromyelitis optica in Hà. She was diagnosed and began losing her sight in 2004, and by 2007, she was almost blind. "Looking at a very foggy mirror after a hot shower," she describes her vision. She uses adaptive technologies to help her organize her social media pages by herself. Há uses the following assistive technologies around her house: VoiceOver, JAWS, Aira glasses, Amigo portable CCTV, along with a thermometer, food scale, and liquid level indicator that provides an oral reading.

Hà is a fiction writer for Gulf Coast: A Journal of Literature and Fine Arts. Her work has appeared in Fire Point, The ScissorTale Review, and PANK Magazine, among other places. She began hosting Four Senses on AMI-TV in January 2014.

Christine Ha Career

Career

Although she has never studied cooking in the nineteen episodes where she appeared on MasterChef's third season, Há has won seven times in individual and team competitions; in addition, she has placed three times in the top three division. However, she was also in the bottom group twice. Hà was announced the winner of the competition on September 10, 2012, along with a $250,000 reward, the MasterChef trophy, and a cookbook.

On May 14, 2013, her book My Home Kitchen: Asian and American Comfort Food (ISBN 9781623360955) was published.

In 2013, Hanzo began co-hosting Four Senses with Carl Heinrich, the winner of Season 2 of Top Chef Canada. It's a cooking show geared toward the visually impaired, and it airs on AMI (Accessible Media, Inc.) TV, a Canadian cable network that aims to make television available to the vision and hearing impaired. To compensate for the vision impaired, the show includes a substantial amount of audio description, where they are narrating what's going on in the kitchen, what they're doing, and how things look or sound.

She revealed on her blog and Facebook page in 2015 that she will be a judge on the third season of MasterChef Vietnam, making her the first female judge and the first female judge in the series after Phan Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn heon aphe Facebook page that she announced on her on her blog and a guest judge on his first he he and a he to become alumn ed he'si väsi v —also winn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Hin Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Tôn Vovê nn Hônh Hônh hev. In the meantime, she and Luca Manfé and Courtney Lapresi were also guests of US MasterChef (season 6). Claudia Sandoval, Season 4 champion Luca Manfe and Season 6 champion Claudia Sandoval, competed against 3 contestants from MasterChef Junior season 4 in a Salmon Wellington tag team fight later this year. The three champions were crowned champions and gave their proceeds to their chosen charity.

She also revealed that she was the first woman and author to win the Helen Keller Personal Achievement Award in 2014, which is given to individuals and groups that "demonstrated outstanding achievement in improving the quality of life for people with vision loss." The current winners included musicians Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles and Tom Sullivan, actor Charlie Cox (who portrayed a blind superhero in June 2015) and businessman Bernard A. Newcomb.

In the 5 years since winning Master Chef (2012–2017), she has also opened small-scale pop-up restaurants around the globe.

She has travelled around the world to teach TED talks about her life as a blind cook and the lessons she has learned along the way [2] [3]]. "Christine has also served as a culinary ambassador for the American Embassy in cultural diplomacy projects in Jordan, Serbia, Bosnia, Herzegovina, and Croatia."

In 2018, Hà opened "The Blind Goat," a Vietnamese gastropub in Houston, Texas. The name is a combination of her illness and her Vietnamese zodiac sign. The Blind Goat received three stars from the Houston Chronicle and was named a semi-finalist for Best New Restaurant in America by the James Beard Foundation in 2020. She and her husband John Suh opened "The Sighted Pig Test Kitchen," which is a blend of her husbands zodiac sign. The menu is based on authentic Vietnamese dishes, with a particular focus on Nhau cuisine. Haley began writing her memoir and second cookbook in June 2018.

Ha has joined Saigon House chef and owner Tony Nguyen to open Xin Chao restaurant in Houston at the start of 2020. With a modern twist on traditional Vietnamese dishes with a touch of Texas BBQ and Gulf Coast seafood, the menu showcases their Vietnamese-American heritage and culinary skills with a modern twist on traditional Vietnamese dishes.
